I truly adore Laura, but I think she’s smoking that funny stuff.

So Mrs. Bush’s ancestors entered the country illegally?

I disagree with fomer first lady LB more that I thought however I keep thinking what a classy lady. She disagreed with her husband on the life issue and the gay marriage issue and kept quiet. I really do appreciate her respect for both her husband and the role of the first lady.

Love or Hate Bush and his family you have to admit they have respect for the office of the president and they carry themselves with class.

Wow - looks like Laura is angling for Barbara’s spot on “the View.”

Laura was a wonderful First Lady and made us all proud for eight years. She has earned a right to her opinion and I for one will respect it.

And the United Methodist Church strikes again!
I am very disappointed in her three opinions regarding gay marriage, abortion and illegal immigration.

I tend to believe that a wife is the biggest chief advisor and counsel most men have.

It is like that in my marriage. Where do I go for the most advice ? Where do I go when im on the fence about a very tough decision ? 7 or 8 out of 10 times, maybe more.. I will follow her advice.

President Bush may have had some lousy advisors and a miserable staff. But I now think Laura may have been the worst of them all. She is a part of the reason his presidency failed.

Agreed. The bush administration was a fraud and horrible for America.

Bush 1 wasn’t good for this nation either.

Laura Bush is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. She was the one who pushed for Harriet Miers to fill a Supreme Court vacancy.

Yup, because it was "important for a woman to be on the Supreme Court" (as she just stated to Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday). The Constitution be damned, but gotta have that woman on the Supreme Court. Geesh...

To one degree or another, all the Bushes are phony conservatives who just put up a front to win elections as Republicans. And once the political careers are over, they often let their guards down.

Carrying yourself with class is overrated.

I would rather be hated and right than hated and classy.

you have to eat or be eaten in this world.

I prefer to eat.

I have been SO disappointed...no, make that appalled at Laura Bush's recent comments re: the AZ law, Elena Kagan, abortion, etc.

Oh yeah, and I forgot about her approval of gay marriage. Ugh...

If she hopes to have anyone left who will buy her book, she should consider going home and staying there. Don't utter another word.

WHAT a disappointment.

And you’re also sexist if you didn’t support Harriet Miers nomination.

“I truly adore Laura”

A one night stand, NSA as they say would be ok, but nothing beyond that...

Don't they teach anything in Texas schools?

The Protestant Irish (actually a mixture of Scots, Irish and Huguenot refugees from the Continent stated arriving in the late 1690's following the St. Bartholomew's Massacre's.

The failure of the Potato crops in the 1840's started massive Irish Catholic immigration. As they worked cheap, the powers that be welcomed them with warm arms.

BUT, some of these Irish lads went into the US Army (no draft in those days) and went on to serve in our war with Mexico.

While there, a number of Mexican Catholic priests were allowed to cross the lines for spiritual guidance of the lads.

However, these Priests convinced these subjects to disobey the oath they had willingly taken to serve 'faithfully in US forces", and then they switched sides.

They choose to fight for the dictator Santa Ana, against their former comrades in arms, that being the US Army.

Remember, these were not draftees yanked fresh off the boats, but men who enlisted for the pay and honors....

The backlash from this betrayal, was even greater than 9-11.

Other Irish Catholics really tried to make up for the betrayal by their coreligionists - by faithful and honest service, but the damage was done. (See NY 69th Infantry)

Today these betrayers are honored in Mexico as the "San Patrico Battalion.

Wouldn't be surprised to the Bushes laying Wreaths at the various monuments in Mexico that honor them. Really wouldn't.

There’s one book I can safely keep off the “to read” list.

Yep

Had it in my Amazon wish list.

"HAD" (Think I'll take myself out to dinner with the savings.)
