Former First Lady Laura Bush has come out against the Arizona immigration law, pointing to the discrimination that her own Irish ancestors, named Welch, faced in their time.
In an interview with Fox News, Bush said the new law merely showed an upsurge in prejudice similar to what her Irish ancestors faced.

Amen. She responded to the call of duty by keeping her personal opinions, which were at odds with the President’s, to herself throughout his administration. That is all she owed any of us and shows her to be a person of class and dignity. Now that she is a private citizen, I support her right to speak her mind, even if I disagree with her, and I thank her for refraining to do so when it may have hurt her husband’s presidency and his policies.
She’s definitely not the Laura Bush I thought she was...

Definitely feel the same. I am so disappointed in both of them, and I was once so in love with the two of them. I still applaud Bush for the way he protected us from more terrorist attacks, but he really let us down in other ways, mainly not protecting the border and secondly not reigning in spending.
Katrina was in 2005. I believe that was the debate the cameras kept showing the frustration of Bush as Kerry was talking after there was an agreement they wouldn't do this.
What’s next Laura ?
will it be promoting the microchip and glorifying how wonderful and “secure” it will be.
Stepford Wife!
” Laura , take qualude and have a nap.
She needs a ranch house in Southern Arizona. “
Like HELL she does!
We don’t want her!
That should be your worst dream, as we would say here in New York.
In the 45 years since the Kennedy Immigration Reform Bill of 1965 (AKA "a Black Year for America") over
**I know, I know. The "official number" is 12 million illegals. But that's LA County. They forgot to look in Orange County, and in 49 other states.
¡Ay-Ay-Ay-AY, canta y no llores!
Another vote for rape and murder.
Well, looks like Laura went totally to the (d) side.
Laura has never been accused of being the smartest bulb in the pack. Still, this is deeply disappointing. I guess this is just another side of the Bush “Compassionate Conservatism” - AKA - Liberal Lite...
Word to Laura: Your Irish Immigrant ancestors came here with a desire for a better life that included becoming part of the American Dream (and came here within the LEGAL method).
Those these laws are targeted towards come here illegally, not with the “American Dream” on their minds, but with the ultimate destruction of that dream. They come calling on us to change to accommodate THEM. To turn a blind eye to the massive costs they bring with them.
BIG difference.
You're right, of course. ...What was going on in 2004 that pre-occuppied Bush so? I seem to remember he was visiting some place just before the debate. Maybe storm damage in Florida???
Now it’s time for the usual numbskulls to come out and defend LBush as “classy” and say “what did you expect her to say?”
>>I guess she doesn’t believe in the United States Constitution that her husband swore an oath to uphold and protect.
<<
Neither did he, obviously. “STAY OUT DA BUSHES!!!”
I know what you mean. Poor guy. Caught between a rock and a....
Seriously, no.
GWB may have been a lib in disguise but he is very intelligent.
Bush attended the Harvard Business School, where he earned an MBA. He is the only U.S. President to have earned an MBA.[34]
(from his biography)
You drank the MSM’s koolaid.
>>Bush-bashing trolls are also off the leash, I see. This kind of stuff bolsters the other side when we have elections to win in the fall.
<<
The other side? The Bushes are ON the other side, genius!
I think your a bit over the top. I think your statement is absurd. I am simply pointing out that she is classy for not wearing her pro choice and pro gay marriage on her sleave while her husband was in office. “My Thinking” that did not get Obama elected if that is what your implying.
