YouTube Smackdown Off Strike Thread #2
Smackdown Crew
Posted on 05/17/2010 6:20:32 AM PDT by StarCMC
We came back from being "on strike" and began this thread to test the waters at YouTube back on March 15th, and we have met with a fair amount of success! I've been asked a couple of times how we've done, and the folks that work behind the scenes have gone to some lengths to answer that question for us -- not too shabby in the least!
By the end of September we had 932 users suspended and 41,764 videos downed
We went on strike 10/30/09 which meant that we did NOT report activity totals for the month of October at FR -- thus October thru May 8th, we added 172 suspensions and 10,702 videos downed.
Our grand totals are 1,104 users suspended and 52,466 videos downed.
Thank you all for helping try to make YouTube NSFIR -- Not Safe For Islamic Radicals. We really appreciate your help! We've been keeping our eye on YouTube. Apparently some of the big cheese folks over there appear to believe that context makes all the difference about whether a hirabist propaganda or recruiting video is appropriate. It would be nice if their "context" was simply that they wouldn't support anyone who opposes the country that they live in, but unfortunately that's not the case. We'll keep watching. And flagging. The cockroaches keep on coming.
Let's Roll!
As a reminder, here are the steps to flagging:
(H/T to rawcatslyentist)
#1) If you dont have a YouTube account, go sign up for one. You dont have to use it for anything but this.
#2) Click one of the videos in the playlist, let it start and then click the pause button on the player so you dont have to actually watch the propaganda if you choose not to..
#3) Below the video, click Flag"
#4) Choose "Select a Reason"
#5) "Violent or Repulsive Content" works for most.
#6) If not violent, choose "Hateful or Abusive Content"
#7) Next, "promotes hatred or violence"
#8) Where it says please indicate the group attacked choose National Origin.
#9) Where it says provide additional information type or copy/paste in the below statement and then at the very bottom click "Flag This Video"
Providing services to terrorists violates executive orders 12947 and 13224.

Unusual. I didn’t get a chance to work todays playlist until this afternoon and all videos are still up.
Two days in a row? wonder whats up. Maybe just not enough flags due to graduation/end of school stuff?

I hope that’s all it is. Weird. We were going great and then boom - nothing. Maybe the admin room has some summer interns from the taliban or something. :-/

Finally able to respond to posts on FR. Looks like everyone's been doing a great job in my absence, Thanks.
But we need to stay on top of these terrorist videos that Star and the SmackDown crew put up.

Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day.
I had the pleasure *cough* of watching the President's helicopter
fly by the track where my hubby was riding his motorcycle.
Some pretty heavy storms blew through and I heard later that
those same storms had postponed the TOTUS' Memorial Day speech at
Lincoln National Cemetery. Apparently God wasn't too pleased
that TOTUS decided to abandon Arlington either. When I heard the
audio clip of him telling the crowd that they were asking people
to take shelter because they were "concerned about the lightning" I told hubby
that if I was him I'd have been concerned about it, too! >:-(ANYWAY....
