LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A 24-year-old Arab American from Michigan beat out 50 other women to take the 2010 Miss USA title Sunday night, despite nearly stumbling in her evening gown.
Rima Fakih of Dearborn, Mich., won the pageant at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip after strutting confidently in an orange and gold bikini, wearing a strapless white gown that resembled a wedding dress and saying health insurance should cover birth control pills.

Pretty good looking pic there. But I’ll need more pics of her, especially in bikini before I can form my complete opinion there.
I didn’t see the show but I am sure she will dedicate this year to stopping honor killing for immodesty among muslim girls....
tell me I’m right.....
So she won the burka competition I take it.
>How about asking her if she supports Hezbollah and Hamas and the destruction of Isreal and the murder of all Jews? How about asking her if she thinks that Jews are filthy pigs?
Those are things she does have sovereignty over (her thoughts & opinions); and therefore something she is culpable for (on a moral level).
With this Arab American winning the 2010 Miss America, I wonder if this will keep the rag heads from attacking us??? HELL NO. This woman should have been wearing the veil and not showing any skin. I wonder if she would have won then?? Politically Correct??? Of course not, not in America. Fixed, hell yes. Just like when a Black woman wins this type of contest. Are white women allowing in Miss Black America?? Hell no, but a black woman needs to be allowed in this??? Racist?? Not me, just tired of the double standards the white people in this country are put through. Make it an even playing field.
Until I read that link, I had a completely opposite view. I figured this was a thumb in the eye to the radical Muslim world. But if that post is correct, she’s simply a propaganda tool.
I hope when she’s interviewed, the press pushes her to talk about her views on women’s rights, veils, burkas, the whole bit.
I tuned in late...I thought for sure she’d be Italian.
I have to agree. She’s smokin’ hot. I don’t care what anyone thinks of her religion or ethnicity.
And I will bet that they were NOT asked of her because the likely answer would have disqualified her. Of course if I get the chance to meet her, I am going to make it a point of asking her those questions.
Debbie "the wannabe talk show host slut" Schlussel......I don't care if I misspelled her name!
She's a jaded skank who is now to journalism as Larry Flynt is to photography..........
>And I will bet that they were NOT asked of her because the likely answer would have disqualified her.
Is there a disqualifier for holding unpopular political views, or repugnant ideas? Remember that the Right to Keep and Bear arms is a repugnant idea and unpopular political view to some.
>Of course if I get the chance to meet her, I am going to make it a point of asking her those questions.
And that should be how you do it, right?
Can you not see the difference between “unpopular views” and supporting terrorist who want to murder every Jew on earth? Are you THAT dense?
>Can you not see the difference between unpopular views and supporting terrorist who want to murder every Jew on earth? Are you THAT dense?
Can you see the difference between arguing your case and possibly converting/altering their views; or would you rather offend them?
Generally speaking, using the accusatory tone of voice immediately puts people on the defensive; that defensiveness is often accompanied by a closing of the mind.
And you are open minded about whether supporting terrorists is okay or not?
>And you are open minded about whether supporting terrorists is okay or not?
And how is letting people have their own opinions supporting terrorists? For that matter, how is awarding the Miss USA crown to someone who has family in the sandbox supporting terrorists? (Yes, it might be a politically motivated kowtowing; then again, it might not.)
When we make “hate speech” illegal, we stamp out the right for people to voice their opinions.
When we make “hate crimes” illegal, we become judges of thoughts, hearts, and motives instead of actions. {Any such judgment not made by God is subjective, not objective.}
