Sadly Illinois is one of those uncivilized states that shuns the death penalty.

Ever notice that the states that don’t have the death penalty (whether by law or non-application of the law) are almost always liberal states in debt up to their ears.

Under one of the worst RINOs of all time, George Ryan, who tried to conceal his blatant corruption with bleeding heart shirt- rending over the death penalty. Ryan destroyed the GOP in Illinois and made it easy for Obama.

They didn’t actually drop the death penalty. Govenor Ryan (who is now sitting in a jail cell) put a moritorium on it.

In 2000, then Illinois GOP Governor Ryan (now in the pokey) declared a moratorium on death sentences.

Then, ousted Dem Governor Rod Blago (soon to be in the pokey) went along with the moratorium.

Present-day Dem Governor Quinn (should be in the pokey) also goes along with the moratorium.

The Illinois death penalty law remains in effect despite the moratorium. All present death row inmates remain under death sentences.

There is a governorship election for Illinois this coming November.

By then, Illinois itself will be in the pokey.....oops, 'scusa me, the poorhouse/nuthouse.

There were a number of cases that were overturned due to new DNA Evidence.

While I am strongly pro-death penalty, we need to be very careful with it. If you have X number of people on death row and several are found to be not-guilty it is prudent to review the cases to verify that the right person should die.

“Acceptable” mistakes do not exist when it comes to killing an innocent man.

Would it have been so hard to include the name of the hitman in your excerpt? After all, the name Harry Aleman was only mentioned in the first sentence.

Maybe Aleman got right with God before he died.

Good synopsis of IL gubernatorial corruption. The good people of IL certainly deserve much, much better. Judy Barr Topinka should be horse-whipped. IMO.
