The majority of thr press have betrayed us and they’re gleeful and arrogant about it.

I wrote this post in response to the question of why the media ignored the Nashville floods. It applies to this story, too.

The MSM is dying, and what limited capital resources they have left have been deployed in maintaining their bunkers in New York City and Atlanta.

They have systematically shut down bureaus both at home and abroad, and have nothing left to offer except their reputations that are based on what used to be.

With the meager resources that they have left, they are squandering them on protecting their Pyrrhicly-won victory in the government, and on reporting the minor opposition incidents that they are trying to enlarge into damaging career-ending scandals in a last-ditch effort to protect the gains that they destroyed their careers for.

They know their works will be undone in 2010, and overturned in 2012, and are now on seek-and-destroy suicide missions to delay the inevitable.

They don't have the time or resources anymore for the petty run-of-the-mill stories like floods in Tennessee when they have a legacy to protect and preserve.

Yes, excellent points.

Plus, the wonderful city of Nashville is conveniently in the Republican state of Tennessee, and those ‘Country-Western” singers trying to aid their fellow citizens aren’t the favorites of the elite journalist crowd.

Ain't that the truth.

What the idiot Fineman doesn't admit is that the old MSM hitched its wagon to Obama, and if his administration implodes, he'll drag the rest of the drive by media down with him.

By this stage of the game, they have little choice but to cover for him.

I think there's a lot of truth in what you suggest. But the familiar conservative diagnosis still holds: the underlying issue is that the (dying) elite media has slid so far down the slippery slope that it has lost touch with its historical roots in old-fashioned news reporting.

Journalism has always attracted crusaders -- nothing new about that -- but the "get the facts straight" tradition of beat reporting remained as an anchor. Somewhere along the line, as advocacy journalism became the normative standard, the anchor was cut loose. The MSM now overdoses us with pure advocacy in which awkward facts are simply ignored. Which, of course, is why the paying customers are leaving.
