(May 14) -- A 14-year-old autistic boy in Georgia faces felony charges of making terroristic threats after he drew a stick-figure version of himself firing a gun at his teacher.

After discovering the crudely rendered drawing that Shane Finn had made on his classwork, officials at Atlanta's Ridgeview Charter School suspended the eighth-grader and decided to pursue charges against him, Fox News in Atlanta reported.

I’m probably gonna get flamed, but this child needs to be watched. The Virginia Tech shooter was clearly autistic. Not saying I agree with the punishment, just that this is a warning sign.

You’d think a Special Ed teacher would be smarter. Since she’s not, we know why the boy is frustrated.

Exactly! I work as a 1 on 1 aide for a boy with Autism. I could so see him drawing a picture like this. It only means he doesn't feel he's being listened to or he doesn't feel he has control over any decisions over everyday things.

My little guy went around and told all the adults he was going to get me fired. He told all the kids I follow him around and spy on him. I feel sooo loved! LOL

Spec. Ed. teacher must be lacking....

We had several songs that would have probably gotten me thrown out of the schools today, one example:

Beer, beer for old Sutter high
Bring on the whiskey, bring on the rye
Send all the Freshmen up for gin
and don’t let a sober sophomore in.
Juniors may stagger, Seniors may ball
but they’ll sober up on wood alcohol
and all the drunken faculty goes up to
the bar for, over the bar for, under the bar
for more beer.

Not a violent song but one which would probably today have a kid thrown out of school for life.

Hee hee hee!

D-i-L is a class aide and works with autistic kids. She was horrified by the story.

You have a right to your opinion. We disagree but that’s ok too.

No sense of proportionality. A district attorney on Fox News tried to explain this away. Came off as a jerk. Why any parent would send their child to a public school with this type of zero tolerance policy is beyond me, unless they are so desperate for “free” daycare that they’ll take any “educational venue” they can. The poor kid is probably on the no fly list for the rest of his life.

“GO TO SCHOOL. BECOME A CRIMINAL!” Doesn’t that make a great T-shirt?

Looks like the kid is handing her a bouquet of flowers. That’s the great thing about modern art. You can interpret it anyway you want. Artist has First Amendment rights, right?

“This boy has an IQ of 75, equal that of a 3rd grader....”

It does’nt help that the officials involved all seem to be acting like second graders....
