Israel has been developing a long-range rocket to ease pressure on its Air Force in any regional war. Officials said state-owned Israeli defense companies have been developing a range of long-range rockets meant to rapidly respond to any enemy missile strike on the Jewish state. They said Israel's military has agreed that it required a response to the plethora of missiles and rockets acquired by Iran's proxies, Hamas and Hizbullah.

The state-owned IMI and Israel Aerospace Industries have been developing several long-range rockets, or those that could travel between 100 and 250 kilometers. IAI has developed LORA, said to have a range of 200 kilometers, while IMI has unveiled the latest product, "Kidon Kosum," English for "Magic Spear." On Feb. 4, IMI oversaw a successful test of Magic Spear in the desert in southern Israel. In a presentation at a missile defense conference on May 5, Raz provided few details of the rocket, merely saying that it could fly for dozens of kilometers and contained a circle error of probability of 10 meters.

"This was very accurate and affordable to militaries as opposed to missiles," Raz said.

Later, IMI executives said the financially-ailing company has been briefing foreign militaries on Magic Spear. They said IMI, despite Raz's presentation, has not been authorized to provide details of the rocket.

IMI has already been producing EXTRA, or Extended Range Artillery, said to have a range of 150 kilometers and a CEP of 10 meters. The Israeli military has been testing EXTRA but no procurement was
