Via Ace, whose post you should read if only for the brilliance of his headline.
Some of you will be tempted twice over to skip this: Its long, and youve already seen the most dramatic bit. Dont skip it.
Force yourself through it, because it happens to be one of the most genuinely depressing clips ever posted on Hot Air.
Everything about this is an utter, unmitigated disgrace the attack on Vilks, the excruciating passivity of most of the crowd, the sheer thuggery of these shrieking, lunatic, barbarian bastards, and of course the killer moment at around 8:45 when they win.
Do note, too, how the Aggrieved alternate between vicious threats and civil rights, warning the cops against brutality and reminding them that they pay taxes too.
Thats a familiar pattern nine years after 9/11. Theyd have torn Vilks apart with their bare hands if they could have but theyre all about proper procedure, you see.
Its almost not worth noting the media double standard applied to violence by sympathetic groups versus unsympathetic groups, but Ace did note it so go read his post. Needless to say, everyone associated with the decision to stop the film should be fired immediately.

More than depressing. . .and given their anti-Democratic proclivities and aggressions; can safely argue that Sweden is NOT your country 'too'. Pathetic as well; the human furniture in this room. What WERE they thinking?
There is a multi-headed hydra monster sweeping through our world and no one is safe from it.
Yes they are culpable in their own demise. Dumbasses.
There’s one big problem with your analysis.
tax dollars pay good men in uniform to protect the pussies that make this trash film from the dirtbags that would harm them. Then the good men in uniform get to be blamed and cursed by the pussies when a dirtbag gets harmed.
Everyone of the muslims in that room need to be sent back to the country they came from. Rights of the western world are not compatable with Islam it is as simple as that.
What he wants is to express his 'free speech'. ..more than that; he wants people to wake up to the evils and the hypocrisy- the truth and the threat of, ok - 'radical'- Islam.
Get used to violent Muslim bullies - THEY VOTE LIBERAL DEMOCRAT.
mo’ ham, add Swiss, on rye!
Or drug with one.... :)
No, I would generally agree with that.
Trust your safety to criminals? I think there is a frog and scorpion moral in that one.
Yes, it’s free speech, but it’s also contemptible. There are better ways to make a point than to use gay porn images. We conservatives tend to oppose that kind of thing when it’s directed at Christians.
: ~)
Islam is insanity, and putting up with Islamists is nuts.
Hmm. While the actions of the crowd are reprehensible, maybe they are on the right track. What would our country be like if the Christians here would have vehemently re-acted when faced with the moral degeneration of our own country? Maybe we would have stayed the country we were yesterday instead of being the country we are today???
In a way, the answers here reflect a liberal bent.
Very astute. Being Christians doesn’t mean we are obligated to be tolerant of degeneracy. In the translations, I didn’t hear anyone say kill the artist. But there were lots of angry Muslims offended by the filth.
Well they grasp the concept of modern weaponry pretty well.
They havent gotten to the point where they understand or value free speech
I don't know about that, the lying bastards use free speech propaganda against us with virtually every word out of their mouths.
It's the Westerners who fail to grasp the value of the free speech term; "GET OUT!"
What is contemptible is the arrogance of shutting down 'free speech' as are their continued promises to behead Vik for his exercising such. Was this provocative, sure. . .but the Muslims here, depending on which test you apply; either 'fail' the Western Values challenge; or rise to the challenge and show exactly, who/what they are: totalitarian miscreants.
Meantime, the Muslim List of 'Contemptibles' grows - and on their list is any and all those who determinedly attempt to give voice to truth on behalf of an enlightened Freedom.
As for 'provocative'. . .a non-Mulism articulating the name of Muhammad - is provocative. The very idea of Christians and Jews, is provocative. Their 'real' presence much more so, of course. Western values are provocative. 'Free speech' when it violates an ;one' of a gazillion Muslim sensitivities - a majority of which speak to an embedded hypocrisy - IS provocative. The Pope is provocative; as are all Catholics (more so, than the average Christian, who by their Faith, regularly lose their heads to Islamists.) The American flag is provocative. Crosses are provocative. Americans are provocative. All symbols of any of the aforementioned, are provocative. The bottom line, of course, that so vexes these people is contained in one word: FREEDOM!
(And whether the 'slight' is big, small; real or imagined; their response is the same.)
Meantime, it is 'we' who are continually provoked - or should feel so - by the relentless assaults made by those who embrace a stone-age rationale and imagine it superior to moral, reasoned thinking. We should be more than insensed by their intentions and by their daily provocations - by way of a degraded modus operandi used against all who do not believe in their 'authority'; nor adhere to their beliefs and/or 'refuse to'.
In this case, their 'right to be offended' does not supercede the rights of Vik to shine a light of truth on an otherwise, closed aspect of contradictory, Muslim behaviors. Do not think this was simply a 'gay porn' film or issue. Do not know if this film was - or was not - related to the Frontline piece that was presented on PBS (not to be 're-aired', mind you): "Dancing Boys of Afghanistan" ; which addresses a history of what is essentially a 'slave trade' of boys to serve what are the 'religious' proclivities of so inclined Muslim males.
/Clearly, these Muslims knew what it was; and rather than stand outside - and protest peacefully - they took the low road and were rewarded(!) for their efforts!/
Whatever the case; Vik is challenging/provoking not only the Muslims who oppose him; but as well, he is challenging the rest of us, to wake up and resist, refuse and denounce every Muslim, 'Allah akbar' call to submission.

Yikes! Corr! One tired typo led to the comfort of the rest and meant to correct. . .the cartoonist name is Lars Vilks, of course. A man too brave to have his name spelled wrong here!
