WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama on Thursday will urge Congress to move forward on new job creation measures and pounce on Republicans for "obstructing efforts to rebuild" the U.S. economy, a White House official said.
Obama travels on Thursday to Buffalo, New York, where he will give a speech on the economy that highlights his administration's achievements after the most recent U.S. jobs report showed the largest increase in jobs in four years, the official said.
"He'll urge Congress to act quickly on new job creation measures, including proposals to strengthen small businesses so they can grow and hire," the official said on Wednesday.
"And he'll call on Republicans to stop sitting on the sidelines and obstructing efforts to rebuild our economy for the sake of short-term political gain."
Employers added 290,000 jobs in April, the U.S. Labor Department said on Friday. It revised figures for February and March to show 121,000 more jobs were added than previously thought. The unemployment rate, however, rose to 9.9 percent as the size of the labor force increased.

If they are, they’re only following his example; short-term patching vs. long-term results.
Shut up Mr. President its been over a year and you haven’t done a damn thing about jobs.
When this sorry azz excuse for a prez says “jobs” he means unemployment extensions.
Pounce is not a word I would generally use to describe anything Obama has done as President.
Denounce, as in denouncing anyone who dares to disagree with him or arrest one of his professor buddies, sure.
Renounce, as in renouncing the idea that that the U.S. holds a special place in the world? Well, yeah, that too.
And he certainly can enounce, what with his speeches on the matter Pah-kee-Stahn.
But "pounce"? Not so much.

The only job Obama cares about is his own, and if he keeps this up, he’ll be filing for unemployment (under one of his several SSN’s) around January 20 of 2013.
I can almost hear it now “we need to pass financial reform and Cap and Trade to save or create 8 million jobs.” Been there, done that.
That unemployment number is the thing 'bam will cite to defend this "request"
Knowing how much of the original remains reveals that he's trying to pad this slush fund.
I just don't know at this point how much remains.
