Michelle Obama’s obesity report: Tax pop and candy, subsidize fruits and veggies

Michelle Obama’s 124 page Childhood Obesity Report is complete for the ‘Let’s Move! campaign’ and it is now online for review.

Most families will not disagree with the ‘findings’ of the report but the extent that common-sense recommendations are detailed in ‘government-speak’ is laughable.

A simple piece of advise such as “Turn off the TV and go out and play” turns into this:

“An association between television viewing and risk of being overweight in preschool children, independent of socio-demographic factors. Specifically, for each additional hour of television viewing, the odds ratio of children having a BMI greater than the 85th percentile was 1.06.1 and . . . physical activity assists children in obtaining and improving fine and gross motor skill development, coordination, balance and control, hand-eye coordination, strength, dexterity, and flexibility—all of which are necessary for children to reach developmental milestones.”

The report largely suggests government take a stronger role in warning parents, mandating changes in schools, and regulate companies that produce junk food and soft drinks.

It’s largely a liberal response to any problem but what’s more interesting is the encouragement of sin taxes on junk food, soft drinks, and candy and propose subsidizing fruits and vegetables.

It's all about control. What happened to the left's idea about control of one's own body? I reckon that only applies to killing babies.

To have Michelle control our diet is like having a Marxist control our economy.
Oh, wait...

Yes especially satrchy ones. I read an aricle the other day about kids having dinner at shcool subsidised of course. They were having vegtable lasgna and the kid was asking for seconds. This is where you can get into weight trouble when you have 2nds even if it is a vegtable based dish. I know from experience :(

I, too, know from experience. When I was younger and more naive, I thought that I had a free pass to eat fruits and vegetables without limit. I’ve learned better since.

The govt. wants us all to move to the high-density city to save the planet from global warming. They want the children to play outside in the high-density city, where? In the parks where the government allows the drunks and perverts to reside, because we can’t violate their rights by telling them where to live. Of course, the taxpayers have no rights to anything, including a Coca Cola once in a while. They should all just SHUT UP.

Hey STUPID Michelle you can have the U.S. FOOD STAMP program and OUR TAX DOLLARS STOP paying for soda, candy, cookies and chips that are making these welfare kids FAT.

Went to the grocery store Tuesday, girl in front of me used her Food Stamp Credit Card and bought a cart full, 75% was junk food. She spent over $120. Very little decent food in her cart.

Absolutely! On food stamps one should not be able to buy convience foods and junk. Just like WIC guidelines you should need to have so much nutritional value before food stamps are allowed to be used for it.

How about a huge, fat ass? Please note, the Lib media shows her beefy arms, never her giant lower half, which resembles a baby hippo.
