If senior journalist David Goldman is right, the correct word for describing the way a growing number of US Jews feel about President Barack Obama is not 'anger' but 'rage' – white-hot rage, at that, and a conviction that they have been swindled.

Goldman, Senior Editor of First Things magazine and 'Spengler' columnist for Asia Times Online, spoke last week at a convention on intellectuals and terror at Ariel University in Samaria. In his lecture, he quoted a top Jewish campaign donor who used the word 'sociopath' to describe Obama. In an interview with Israel National News, he predicted a possibly dramatic 'train wreck' for the Democrats in the November mid-term elections, with Jewish fundraising for Democrats drying up and a possibly high turnout of anti-Obama evangelical Christians.

No one, post-Jeremiah Wright, has any excuse for misunderstanding who Obama is. I knew some religious conservatives who were impressed with him early on “because he was outspoken about his faith”. With Reverend Wright we got a glimpse of exactly what that faith was. No excuses.

I asked how you can equate a party that wants less government intrusion and more individual freedom, like gun-ownership with a socialist movement that enlarged government and restricted freedoms so much that people could not oppose them in their quest to exterminate his grandparents. I thought Jews were an educated people.

Of course they are on the whole, in the way that Kagan is educated- an elitist through academia, probably well-read, but an ideologue nonetheless. The left's ideological agenda interferes with good old common sense. It doesn't mean they aren't educated, but they can be ignorant of some basic, common sense truths.

The Jews who voted for Ozero are mostly committed liberals. They've traded in the Judiasm and good sense for the religion of liberalism. They are so into their causes- the environment, woman's right to choose, a world with no war, global warming, no nukes, and they are just wrong on the issues in spite of their formal education.
