It looks like Sarah Palins endorsement of Carly Fiorina in the California GOP U.S. Senate race is actually a negative.
It also appears from the latest poll that Californians who care about the abortion issue are supporting Chuck DeVore, even though Fiorina (who supports the appointment of pro-abortion Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and campaigned as pro-choice for John McCain in 2008) inexplicably received the California Pro-Life Council endorsement.
You want polls to prove that Chuck DeVore is on the way UP and Carly Fiorina is on the way DOWN? Here it is! Poll results from Team DeVore, followed by analysis by Aaron Gardner:

Next, we look at self-identified conservatives, where we see a much more pronounced shift from Fiorina to DeVore:
Candidate April 22nd May 10th Trend
Campbell 30.84% 31.07% +0.23%
Fiorina 27.92% 24.85% -3.07%
DeVore 14.61% 17.46% +2.85%
The race is between Fiorina and Campbell.
Devore is a situation equal to being down 3-0 in a best of 7.
Now, were not especial fans of the methodology that SurveyUSA uses random-digit dialing and no ballot titles have the effect, we believe, of presenting a distorted picture of the race, and one that almost certainly artificially depresses Chuck DeVores support. That said, its useful to look at the trends from the last SurveyUSA poll to this one. They reveal three things:
1) Chuck DeVore is surging, with conservatives and core primary-election voters beginning a major shift toward him.
2) Carly Fiorina is collapsing, as core conservative groups abandon her despite a spate of major endorsements.
3) Tom Campbell remains essentially static.
As Rush says, conservatives think for themselves. He does not have an army of “mind numbed robots”, and neither does Sarah.
Let me put it in a parallel view.
In the recall Senate primary, McClintock DeVore is the natural champion of the recall effort tea party movement.
Establishment interests are alarmed that their control is slipping away.
They recruit a self-funding Schwarzeggar Fiorina to come in and split the recall tea party movement. They fan fears that if they don't support the better known candidate Bustamonte Campbell will be a shoo in.
Campbell = Bustamonte who is worse than Davis Boxer?
Egad, people. A statist only looks like a conservative because of the business connection. Your leftist controlled schools employed teachers who never made the distinction clear to you. You still think business person = conservative. That's what the Left and the Statists want you to think.
The Statist Fiorina = Statist Schwarzenegger connection is just not registering is it?
"They who don't learn the lessons of history will be condemned to repeat it."It would be bad enough if you condemned yourselves; but you are condemning our nation. You will never ever take a chance on the real conservative -- EVER!
Don't you see that you cannot be conservatives in a good sense? See my tagline?
When you find are settling for the closest thing to the status quo, when you are too fearful to fight tyranny with principles you claim to represent, how can you lay claim to those principles? You are all too PC: Politically Cowered.
Good analysis.
You have to start somewhere.
Might as well be here.
Fiorina should drop out for the good of the Conservative movement...:)
Maybe she’ll get forced out like she did at HP...
Thanks, but it can be improved on. You have my permission to try. The typos should be easy to fix (I see at least two). There are many more connections. Adding them could either make the comparison clearer or make it too complicated. Only playing with it will tell you what will open more eyes.
“Right now, the momentum is 100% toward Chuck DeVore. Having expended all her ammunition on big-name endorsements, its difficult to see what Fiorina has left beyond a media blitz that would prove ruinous for a campaign that finished Q1 2010 de facto in the red. (Note especially that the Palin and major pro-life endorsements of Fiorina came before this poll was conducted, and she still lost huge numbers of pro-lifers and presumptive social conservatives to DeVore.) Carly Fiorina has stretched her celebrity, her cash, and her DC-insider connections to the limit.”
I really wish DeVore would win and he probably would if Palin had shown him her support, but I think Campbell will be the candidate chosen in the end. Which brings me to this question. Why didn’t Sarah Palin endorse DeVore? Why Fiorina?
Although I’ve been a fan and supporter of Palin all along, I am now wondering if she isn’t taking direction on some of these questionable endorsements from Snake McCain. I’d hate to think the poor judgement was all just hers alone. Then again, taking direction from Snake McCain would show equally poor judgement. It’s becoming a delimma (at least for me).
DeVore is the conservative candidate.
Fiorina’s endorsement from the National Right To Life and affiliated groups reminds me of their endorsement of my congressman as “Pro-Life” when he only votes “Pro-Life” 57 percent of the time.
Devore is his consistent 20 points behind Campbell, that did not change at all, zero.
Absentee voting started yesterday, and Devore is still at 15%.
Tom Campbell is doing well, too bad no one cares about him.
Go DeVore!!
I don’t know much about DeVore. I’ve been impressed by Fiorina, although I didn’t know she was pro-choice.
Is Carly Fiorina a conservative?
- She supported the Wall Street bailouts.
- She supported Cap and Trade.
- She supported the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayer.
- She has criticized the new Arizona immigration law.
- Before she was fired as the CEO of Hewlett-Packard, she allowed the company to sell technology to Iran.
- And last year when liberal Democrats and moderate Republicans were trying to push through a massive tax increase in a California referendum, Carly Fiorina had "no comment."
I call her a "John McCain Republican" – she talks the talk from time to time and says she’s a conservative but she has a “never with us when it counts” record just like McCain.
