For a long time, Meg Whitman rode high in the polls in her effort to win the Republican nomination in California for Governor. Over the last month, her position has suddenly eroded, according to a new Survey USA poll, and now she finds herself in a dead heat with insurance commissioner Steve Poizner. Now the former eBay CEO has to fight hard to hold onto a nomination that most people assumed she would win, with the primary just around the corner:
Not long ago Meg Whitman had such a huge lead 50 points over Steve Poizner for the GOP nomination for governor, many folks thought the race was over and started sizing up her chances against the Democrats Jerry Brown.
When she came in to talk to our Editorial Board last week, Whitman brushed off news that some polls showed Poizner had closed the gap to about 10 points. Still 10 points isnt anything to scoff at, especially with only a little more than a month before the polls open.
Well, this week ABCs SurveyUSA poll shows that Poizner is now 2 points behind her 39 percent to 37 percent.
The poll itself shows Poizner advancing on all fronts. He only trails Whitman by seven points among women, perhaps the most eye-opening result of all. He wins voters under the age of 50, and wins Hispanic voters as well. Poizner also edges Whitman among those voters who self-identify as conservatives, 41/38.

In the name of profits for ebay, she allowed many, many people to be hurt financially.
Case in point. There was a company on ebay called Bargainland Liquidation. That company purchased store returns, mostly non-working defective product that looked new but did not work. The company then sold the merchandise on ebay. Complaints were registered to ebay - many that made it to Whitman via ebay member committees. They were ignored.
Bargainland simply contributed too much money to ebay's bottom line and Whitman's salary.
With no action by ebay to reign in Bargainland, the company got more brazen, setting up double payment scams and sending out absolute jumk product. Thousands of consumers got ripped off and ebay continued to do nothing. Intensive efforts by ebay users could not get ebay and Whitman to act.
If those are her ethics then, they are her ethics now. We have enough politicians selling out our state and country for the sake of their personal gain. We don't need the likes of Whitman.
Ironically, harmed buyers took their complaints to the AZ attorney general.
Here is a link that will give you a taste of what Whitman refuesd to deal with.

Well, I have pretty much decided to vote for Poizner. AZ did it for me. I don’t think he is a particularly strong candidate, though. Tom McClintock is currently making a much better case for Poizner than Poizner could ever do from himself. Wish McClintock was running! I would vote for him in heart beat.
“Awww...Gee Meg, ya’ couldn’t buy the nomination?”
Well put. She has spent $59 million of her own money so far, while Poizner has somewhere in the area of $19 million to spend on his entire campaign, mostly donations. We all saw what happens when someone buys an election (Obummer). Elections aren’t bought with the good of the people in mind...serious paybacks are expected.
He tends to whine a lot.

Poizner? Never saw a tax he didn’t like.
Yes, McClintock does a fine job as usual. I recall his own ads when he was running in the gobernatorial primaries, the best political ad ever imo, with him in his Scottish tartan kilt talking about fiscal responsibility. It was great!!
Whitman deserves to tank. If you think her radio ads are fingernails on a chalkboard (and I do), you should see her toxic TV ads: genuinely repulsive.
Poizner’s ads, on the other hand, are only getting better. I can’t believe he is now campaigning openly vs. illegal immigration... hope he has a crack security detail.
I was thinking he should... I hope that is next.
I think the add with Tom Mcclintock is a big game changer. Tom, now Congressman, is seen as a REAL Conservative by the most in California. His add attacking Whitman is hurting her badly.
KMG, Salinas, CA
Whitman caught in another immigration flip flop. Announces she would have opposed California Proposition 187, a voter initiative to cut off public benefits to illegal aliens.
Read this just after hearing her ad that she will not support public benefits to illegal aliens.
Whitman is sinking fast. She tried to make in on an early barrage of silly, childish negative ads. When it comes to substance, she is caught.
Definately!
I pressed him on the issue of his budget. The rap out of Whitman about that is Whitman media spin.
You do not know anything about how ebay was run under Whitman it sounds like to me. She most certainly did not run it well.
