NEW DELHI: The government on Tuesday said that Ajmal Amir Kasab, who has been sentenced to death in the Mumbai terror attacks case, may be hanged by the end of this year provided there is no legal bar.

"If there is no petition from him (Kasab) challenging the sessions court verdict in the higher court... he can be hanged by the year-end," Union home secretary G K Pillai told a news channel

22-year-old Kasab, a Pakistani terrorist, was awarded capital punishment on May six by a Mumbai special court which held him guilty of mass murder and waging war against India, by carrying out the terror strikes in November 2008. As many as 166 people were killed in the attacks by ten gunmen belonging to Lashar-e-Taiba.

The death sentence to Kasab has to be confirmed by the Bombay High Court.

On being asked about the status of Parliament attack case convict Afzal Guru's mercy petition, Pillai said, "It is with the government for consideration."

These folks dont kid around. Wonder if there is an ICLU (Indian Civil Rights Union) trying to spring this guy who was caught on a number of live CCTV cameras just blowing away Indian and after Indian (and foreigner) in Mumbai, India a year and a half ago--so he can go out and perform MORE jihad murders (doubt it).The Indian police agency was FLOODED with volunteers from India from all walks of life volunteering to assist in the hangman's work, for a small fee for services (like jury duty) amounting to about $US 4.00 to put this Islamfascist guy away for good. Absolutely flooded with requests from across India.

They should think about making money off his death. Put it on pay-per view all across India. I’m sure they’ll make boatloads of money.

The scum better be hanged.
The Iranians hanged a 23 year old girl last week and this scum terrorist is worth a lot less than she was.

Seems like I remember PBS in Dallas trying to trlevise the TX executions about 30 years ago. TDC denied the request. Would have had the highest ratings.

He should be hanged with a rope braided from pigskin leather.

Impossible.

There is no way an official execution can happen in public, in India. It is legally impossible.

The talk is just that - street talk.

That is certain what "the street" wants. I can understand grassroots Hindu anger in India. Particularl in a blatant case of Islamofascism like that (26/11). There is a long history of it. Sometimes it gets out of control, though, and goes too far in one direction in the search more for revenge than justice, such as attacking Muslim or Sikh enclaves where people live who had little to do with a certain crime or attack.

They have had this back and forth for years it seems. Like cats and dogs and jaguars (Hindu, Muslim, Sikh).

That’s true, but mob violence will be mob violence.

This is an execution conducted by an official judicial process, and it can’t bend to the whims of a mob. A detailed procedure exists for performing executions, from the location, drop height determination, right up to the lubrication of the noose knot.

I’ll try and post it here when I find it.
