Absent a court finding that he isn’t a natural born citizen, we have to take the certification from the National Democratic Convention at face value.

Which version of the DNC certification document would that be Mr. Nelson? Would it be the one that does include the passage stating BO/BS is constitutionally qualified that was sent only to the state of Hawaii?

Or would it be the other version with the Constitutional passage omitted that was sent to the other 49 states?

Why bother omitting the Constitutional passage from the document if BO/BS is a natural born citizen as required by Article 2 Section 1 of the Constitution?

This guy got the version without that certification. Someone ought to tell him that.

To shift the responsibility/liability to the receiving end, of course, if the SoS is asleep enough or blatant enough to accept it. (Hawaii is the only state in the clear on this issue which is a friggin’ irony if I’ve ever seen one.)

I still suspect that Arkansas mis-dated theirs on purpose. Somehow thinking that would maybe be Daniel’s way out when it hits the fan. In fact the Arkansas “certification” says nothing about anything except that he signed the Democratic pledge and paid the filing fees.

Thanks for the images of the DNC cert papers. I decided to include them on the WAPO site with my comments:

Just to address the problem in SOS Nelson’s statement “we have to take the certification from the National Democratic Convention at face value.”
Apparently he didn’t read the certification sent him by the DNC since it did not include ANY statement regarding the Constitutional eligibility of Barack Obama.

Perhaps he saw the certification sent only to the state of HI which (as Hi law requires) did include a statement of eligibility.

Why wouldn’t the DNC send a certification including eligibility qualifications to all 50 states?

As far as the “Natural born citizen” Constitutional requirement for no one else but the POTUS and VPOTUS, it means born of PARENTS who are citizens. Any other definition is in direct conflict with the intent of the drafters of the Constitution who used Vattel’s “Law of Nations” treatise (which included that definition) to formulate much of the basis of our Constitutional Republic.

The only reason a certified long form birth certificate (not the fraudulent “Certificate of live birth”) is relevant is it would be documentary prima facia legal evidence to verify the parentage of Barack Obama.

Since by Obama’s own admission he was a dual citizen at birth, he can in no way be considered a “Natural born citizen” and has in fact perpetrated the biggest fraud in history on the American people.

He's been avoiding answering that question. I posed it to him again for an online chat he is doing at noon today. We'll see if the lib reporter has the guts to ask it as Nelson & his staff blew me off when I questioned him about it back when it broke that the DNC sent out 2 different certifications.

Flip that over for me. Why send the different one to Hawai’i?

I believe that Nelson, as SOS in South Dakota, received the second version of that DNC certification (see post # 8), i.e., the one that did not state specifically that Obama was constitutionally qualified.

So Nelson's statement quoted in the posted article is not factually correct because the DNC never certified to him that candidate Obama was constitutionally qualified.

However, it would seem as if he is at least now getting up to snuff about the issue, even if he should have been more active and alert about it back in '08.

I had never seen this before. What did the certifications from the RNC say for the GOP candidates?
