Following is a special message from Chuck DeVore regarding the Sarah Palin endorsement of Carly Fiorina.
I just finished strong in a one hour debate with Tom Campbell and Carly Fiorina (to be broadcast Sunday morning -- we'll send you the media analysis when it comes in).
But before I went to bed tonight I wanted to take a moment to type out some of my thoughts on the days news and provide you with an update on my campaign.
If you didnt hear, Sarah Palin posted a Facebook message earlier today about the California Republican primary.
She bashed Tom Campbell.
She tried to ignore me.
And she announced her support of Carly Fiorina.
She called Fiorina a "commonsense conservative" and said Fiorina is "the only conservative in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer."
I like Sarah Palin. I think highly of her. But she got this dead wrong.
Carly Fiornia is NOT a conservative.
And she is certainly NOT the only candidate in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer.
Let me address each of those issues with some cold, hard facts.
Is Carly Fiorina a conservative?
* She supported the Wall Street bailouts. * She supported Cap and Trade. * She supported the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayer. * She has criticized the new Arizona immigration law. * Before she was fired as the CEO of Hewlett-Packard, she allowed the company to sell technology to Iran. * And last year when liberal Democrats and moderate Republicans were trying to push through a massive tax increase in a California referendum, Carly Fiorina had "no comment."
I call her a "John McCain Republican" she talks the talk from time to time and says shes a conservative but she has a never with us when it counts record just like McCain.
Don't get me wrong, if a liberal Republican like Tom Campbell or a moderate Republican like Carly Fiorina win the primary instead of me, I will support them against Barbara Boxer.
But theres no need to make a compromise like that.
This is not a primary election where electability needs to be a factor.
Again, let me offer the cold hard facts.
Heres the most recent polling numbers from the independent Rasmussen poll.
* Fiorina 38% - Boxer 42% * DeVore 39% - Boxer 42% * Campbell 41% - Boxer 43%
The margin of error in the poll was 4.5%.
That means Fiornia is statistically tied with Boxer.
So am I (actually one point better than Fiorina).
And so is Tom Campbell.
There is literally no difference at all in how we are performing against Boxer.
The fact is Boxer has been mired in the mid-to-low 40s for more than a year.
Whether its her abrasive politics, her leading role in Cap and Trade, the way California Democrats have run the state into the ground, the way Washington Democrats are running the country into the ground, the "Can you call me Senator?" episode, or something else, the fact is Barbara Boxer is going to have a very difficult time winning re-election this year.
So the choice before the California primary voters isnt who can beat Boxer
it's which Republican candidate best represents your values.
* Is it Tom Campbell, the "Nelson Rockefeller Republican" who supported the largest tax increase in history at the state level, a 32-cent gas tax increase, and is liberal on social issues? * Is it Carly Fiorina, the "John McCain Republican" who claims she is a conservative but has a never with us when it counts record of support for the bailouts, for cap and trade, and for the confirmation of liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor? * Or is it me, Chuck DeVore, a "Ronald Reagan Republican" who has a proven, conservative record on taxes, on spending, on social issues, and on defense?
I believe it's vitally important to California and Americas future that we get Barbara Boxer out of the Senate
...but I also believe it's just as important we replace her with a true conservative who will faithfully hold strong to the Founding Father's vision of a limited government
My record is clear.
I have a proven voting record in the California State Assembly that has earned me several "Legislator of the Year" awards from conservative organizations.
I was a Reagan White House appointee in the Pentagon and Im a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army Reserve.
And I was against the bailouts, against cap and trade, and against the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayer. I support the Arizona immigration law. And when California Republican moderates tried to raise taxes I resigned my leadership position in protest.
My record has earned me support from conservatives like:
*** Senator Jim DeMint's "Senate Conservative Fund" *** Governor Mike Huckabee's "HuckPAC" *** Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA) *** Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) *** Congressman Jeff Flake (R-AZ) *** The Tea Party Express *** Citizens United PAC *** Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association PAC *** And more than 60% of Californias Republican elected officials.
Media commentators Glenn Beck, George Will, Andrew Breitbart, and Mark Levin have all identified me as the true conservative candidate in this race.
I'm not going to lie to you, I would have liked Sarah Palin's endorsement, too (and I look forward to getting it after I win the primary).
But the support I most need and want is yours.
If you live in California, I need your vote on June 8th.
And no matter where you live, I urgently need your immediate financial support.
Based on the Facebook and Twitter comments, it seems a lot of Sarah's supporters weren't very happy about her decision to support Carly.

Whatever. DeVore is now calling Sarah a moderate, just because she did not back him. Now its just a temper tantrum.
And his little attack on her because of the TARP. She had to back it because McCain did and it was during the campaign. The media would have gone nuts if she did not back her running mate. But of course DeVore must ignore the facts, since they get in the way of his rant.
Has she said she only was cheerleading for TARP because of McCain?
She has written enough on that for you to figure it out.
Nothing that I’ve seen that said she did on Mccain’s behalf. Of course, she still supports McCain and his immigration plans too. So there you go.
Sarah Palin believes in a ‘path to ciizenship’ to illegal aliens who broke our laws! Enough said.
Think whatever you want. It’s more than obvious that you think the worst of Sarah. She has said she is against amnesty and against TARP. But it doesn’t matter, because that goes against your world view.
Everyone and their sister says they are against amnesty. Including John “amnesty” McCain. And I’ve yet to see her say she pushed TARP to appease McCain. I’m all ears though if you have that quote.
I wrote this a while back.
My Idea of Comprehensive Immigration Reform:
“1. Illegal aliens are to be detained upon detection and deported within twenty-four hours.
“2. Any citizen knowingly employing, sheltering, concealing, or otherwise assisting (other than emergency medical care) an illegal alien shall suffer forfeiture of all property, real and personal, all assets, businesses, business licenses, and any other thing except his/her physical freedom and two changes of clothing; after which he/she may seek employment and start over.
“3. Any non-citizen legally resident, acting as described in para 2 above, shall suffer the same penalty and be deported to his/her country of origin within 48 hours.
“4. Any public official, in any branch of government, at any level, who under color of clemency, legal discretion, or other official privilege, shall obstruct, alter, or modify the swift application and extent of paras 1-3 above to any degree soever, shall suffer the same penalty and be summarily removed from office.”
So...am I hard-line enough on the subject for you?
Here’s the punch line: I agree with SP that there should be a “path to citizenship” for illegals.
I believe that she agrees with me that the path leads back to Mexico (or wherever they came from), and to the back of the line of those awaiting legal immigration.
I hope to be corrected, if I am wrong. Such correction must be linked to SP’s own speeches and/or writings— not McCain’s, or anyone else’s speeches or writings, which I will regard as (at best) opinion pieces or (at worst) outright slanders.
“commonsense conservative”
It was “commonsense” to outsource thousands of liveable wage, taxable income jobs and throw citizens out of work?
It was “commonsense” to destroy HP?
Sorry, we don’t need her kind of “commonsense” anymore than we need McCain’s “commonsense.”
Both are uncommonly full of crap.

Tom Campbell and Carly Fiorina face the challenge of drawing attention from Republicans Steve Poizner and Meg Whitman in race for governor.
May 08, 2010
By Maeve Reston, Los Angeles Times
The leading Republicans competing for their party's nomination for the U.S. Senate moved into the final phase of their campaign Friday, largely seeking to ignore each other and focus, instead, on the incumbent they hope to unseat, Democrat Barbara Boxer.
The most recent polls have shown two of the candidates, former Hewlett-Packard chief executive Carly Fiorina and former Rep. Tom Campbell, locked in a tight race for the June 8 primary, with Orange County Assemblyman Chuck DeVore trailing in a distant third.
[ ... see more at link ... ]
further on down in it, you see the following ...
Republican Senate Primary
The GOP battle to face incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer in November remained essentially unchanged.
The CBS 5 poll shows former Congressman Tom Campbell defeats former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, 35% to 24%. State assembly member Chuck DeVore gets 15% and 23% are undecided.
Now, look at it if you take the 24% for Carly Fiorina and if DeVore did not "split off" (in that primary) his 15% ... then basically Carly Fiorina could whacked Campbell with 39% Fiorina to 35% Campbell with 23% undecided.
You can easily see why DeVore turns out to be the "spoiler" to ruin the chances of getting rid of Boxer. And even if Campbell were to do that... you've got the worst of those three (Campbell, Fiorina, DeVore) -- in Campbell winning.
DeVore had no chance at all and all "he played" in the game -- was basically a "spoiler" role ...
Wishful thinking. Last Rasmussen poll had 23% undecided in senate primary. The palinistas suddenly finding that “Carly is a conservative” is the funniest thing I’ve ever witnessed on FR.
Chuck you can’t win, step a side for the good of the country. November is to important to f###-up. Who are you? Get it!
Chuck is the one we want. Get the wimmin out. They had there stay and failed too.
Reminds me of the Fredheads that kept telling me the FBI was investigating Hunter. I’m still waiting for them to finish that up and jail the guy.
See the next post ... #14 ... :-)
