I’d like to agree but this dissolution is neither immediate or going to happen in the short term. Don’t underestimate the impact of switching the voting system to PR.

At this point TP leaders with cash could be called to campaign for DeVore. A blitz of attack ads could siphon votes from both Campbell and Fiorina.

Campbell should be caricatured as the poster child of failed national policies (his record in Congress); Fiorina should be attacked for her Romney characteristics and tactics including her hiring of Romney McCain advisors to wit using any facts verified from the report of this thread.

That said DeVore should be careful not to overpromise. California is going to fail and should fail. DeVore needs to somehow to survive the crash.

The UK has been in a state of socialism and politically correctness cowered longer than the USA.

Fixed it. The worm is turning, as the cowered recognize they don't have to be cowards. Constantly bowing to the politically powerful sucks.

"Cowed no longer" could be the TP chant.

Please explain switching the vote system to PR. I am uninformed on that.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I guess my question is: is there a place here where appropriate and relevant discussion of these “sensitive” issues can take place?

Also, who and where is this mysterious force that deletes stuff? Does it have a name and can you appeal or have a discussion with it?

Look at the numbers in that pole. Fiorina obviously has much better shot at beating Campbell just on the numbers alone, never mind the endorsements and the money she’s got.

Might be, but she has the lowest chance of beating Boxer. If we go to the polls in November with Meg Whitman for Governor and either Carly Fiorina or Tom Campbell for Senator as our candidates, what is there to motivate the base of the Republican Party to show up? Many conservatives will stay home. In 2008, many of us voted for McCain ONLY because he had Sarah Palin on the ticket. Had he chosen Lieberman, many would have stayed home and Obama would have had an even bigger victory.

If we leave our candidate selection up to the GOP establishment, we will wind up with candidates who are just like the democrats, statists who will grow government at our expense. This year, the people are involved and we are not going to be told that a person is a conservative when they most admire Diane Feinstein and think that Jesse Jackson has done more good for more people than anyone else in recent history or when they support plans that tax people for using or emitting natural substances and that will increase costs to consumers at all levels.

Conservatives can win in CA but only if we are determined to vote for them, and not allow the party establishment to play silly games to disenfranchise or dishearten us.

OK - but what tipped you off to why my comments were and would be deleted?

In essence, we go from a winner takes all system - in the case here the first party to get 326 seats in Parliament regardless of the % share of the vote (Blair won a landslide in 97 with just over 30% of the vote) - to a system where seats are allocated on the proportion or % of votes cast. In the latter think the Italian system where you get a whole bunch of minor and screwball parties allocated seats. Worse still, candidates get elected in on party lists and don't have to front the voters and sell their case (great system for hacks and retreads). So the net result is none of the larger parties can ever govern alone - deal making and compromise is the order of the day.

I lived under a PR system in New Zealand (MMP) and frankly its effing awful and I never want to experience it again. What pissed me off the most is you could vote out some obnoxious turd MP on polling day and they'd be straight back in Parliament (care of the party list) on Monday giving you the finger.

Hope that clarifies what we are facing here right now. Clegg and the LD’s are holding Cameron & the Tories to ransom over this as we speak.

Thanks for the explanation.

Yes we have similar efforts here. Essentially it moves the politics from a Republican form of government to a more democratic government, and the poltically informed have known for centuries that all democracies fail eventually.

What do you think of the news that Brown is resigning?

So why did your guy go on Hardball with Chrissy and allow himself to be made to look like a dunce politician?

Explain.

But I already see two red flags:

1. Devore appeared with Matthews.
2. You watched Matthews.

Long time experience and agreement with the policy.

That's what I'm trying to find out - what is the policy and is it written down somewhere?

Good! He was an unelected caretaker without a personality. Been brewing for some time really and the election sealed it. My pick is Alan Johnson to take over Labour although Ed Balls won’t lie down quietly.

Interesting times for all.

"Gotta wonder if the Founders ever considered the possibility of career politicians."

I'll bet they didn't because they thought it was a sacrifice to take the time out of their lives to legislate at such low compensation.

I'll bet they didn't because they never ever expected the newly begotten federal government would ever wield such vast power.

I'll bet they didn't because they never ever expected congressional pensions to be so incredibly luxurious!!!

"All of which she stole from the employees and stock holders of Hewlett-Packard..."

exactly. I'm surprised that such a selfish pos even has a chance. She damn near ran HP right off of a cliff. But before she did that, she bought plenty of private jets and laid off 20,000 hard-working Americans. She has more baggage than a Mayflower moving van. Just another Rinosaurus.....but she will get the sympathy vote. Expect a steady dose of pink ribbons on the campaign trail.
