Elena Kagan chosen as Supreme Court nominee, NBC reports [Updated]
Los Angeles Times ^

President Obama has picked Solicitor General Elena Kagan as his nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court, NBC News reported Sunday, choosing a relative moderate who may still face questions from Republican Senators on gays in the military.

White House officials did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation of the NBC report, which gave no source for the information.

[Updated 8:10 p.m.: The Associated Press has also reported Kagan's nomination, citing a source who spoke on condition of anonymity because the decision had not been made public. Obama will announce his choice at 10 a.m. Monday in the East Room of the White House, says the AP.]

Funny thing is, looking in at that place that rhymes with Pee U, they are as bewildered and opposed to her as we are here.

The strategy is brilliant.

The Usurper can honestly claim to have nominated both a man and a woman.

So we will have ANOTHER supreme court justice ( in all likelihood) that is a never married, left wing, activist, probably gay female. No life perspective of building a nuclear family, child rearing, marriage etc. So two out of nine justices, never married, radical lesbians? Not exactly the American mainline demographic.

What in the H is going on....2 out of 9??? That’s a loaded percentage off the curve. It would be VERY nice to have our highest justices reflect a bit more LIKE the majority of Americans for crying out loud...to have a grasp of, think about and weigh and understand the TYPICAL (say, 70%+) American life experience.

I thought it was a relative of Janet Napolitano.

They both look like chips off the same block of Crisco.

The Republicans will do nothing more than posturing and lip service to prevent Kevin James in drag from being appointed.

Because at the end of the day, they don’t actually care about social conservatives.

Harvard hates America.

Approaching an all Harvard/Yale Supreme Court. They represent the top 1/2 of one percent and no one else.

I weep for this country’s future.

Is she going to be an “in the closet or “out of the closet” nominee?

Will she be the Ellen DeGeneres of the Supreme Court?

Yeah I’m surprised more people haven’t drawn that same conclusion.

Paul Blart-Supreme Court Justice.

A famous line in Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap is directed to a masculine woman dressed in a man's charcoal-gray suit:

"Have you ever been abroad?"

If you are including Sotomayor as one of those two you should know that, although childless, she is a divorcee. She was married from 1976 until 1983.

With her appointment all of the Supreme Court Justices will have been educated at Harvard or Yale. Obama is a Harvard Law School grad. George Bush was a Yale undergrad and Harvard MBA. Clinton a Yale law grad. Bush senior a Yale undergrad. We are increasingly ruled by elites from the Ivy League.

Where’s the diversity?
