Obama talked about justices knowing how their ruling effects “ordinary people,” but I don’t know of any nominee who has less “real world” experience. With the exception of three years as an associate at a politically connected D.C. law firm, she has spent her entire adult life either in academia or government. Also, although technically a lawyer, she has never tried a case in court.
