Kids, don’t try this at home.
Wait.... what?
Maybe its the terminology.
Saying its okay that someone who walked into the middle of a shootout got hit and its not the cops fault should probably not use the term “justified”.
A badge covers a multitude of sins, cold blooded murder included.
Gotta love that headline. The media in this country is a disgrace!
Bad idea when a cop yells “show your hands”. Its a good idea to show them.
CPD chalks one up to collateral damage.
Balandran was leaving a McDonald's and walked into a gunbattle between officers and two robbery suspects.
The report released Friday says Balandran was wearing the same color shirt as the suspects and came from the same direction as the shots.
The report says Lisner asked Balandran to show his hands, but he did not. Lisner kept hearing shots and feared for her life, and she shot him in the chest.
An attorney for Balandran's family calls the report a "whitewash."

** The innocent person didn't raise he hands because he didn't do anything wrong.
** Mr. Balandran was totally surprised by the females officers sudden demand...
** Since Mr. Balandran did not immediately comply with the sudden commands Officer Ms. Claudia Lisner shot the UNARMED innocent victim to death....
I wonder if this is what an old boss of mine
who was a reserve deputy sheriff meant when
he used to joke about ‘firing warning shots
into the crowd’? Not really very funning here.
The word “justified” sticks in your throat in
this instance.
Synopsis of the article:
“...police Cpl. Claudia Lisner shot 23-year-old Daniel Balandran...
...Balandran was wearing the same color shirt as the suspects...
...Lisner asked Balandran to show his hands, but he did not...
...[the police cpl.]...feared for her life, and shot him in the chest...”
The comments to the article are truly evil. Many commenters feel that these people shouldn’t have had any more children, overpopulation, us kids consume more and third world kids do without, etc. One of the mothers had a deaf daughter and said that she was considering cochleal implants; several commenters felt that they should let the child be deaf and learn ASL. Evil, evil people.
Under all the circumstances, her "split second" decision was reasonable and legal, Hidalgo wrote. The item turned out to be a McDonald's food container.
Balandran did nothing wrong, Hidalgo noted, acting as any bystander would trying to escape danger.
Am I missing something here? If the cop could hear the shooting, couldn't the victim also hear it? Why didn't he hit the deck or better yet, why did he walk out of the restaurant into the middle of a gun fight?
There’s a lady cop taking heat from civilians for shooting a so-called bystander over here - one of your people.
It could have been “officer down!”
But luckily, only the civilian died.
I have the article and the thread. As stated above I need more information. To many things unanswered.
Here’s your pizza.....and a side of lead!
Every badge is number 007 anymore.
Justifiable Homicide: Itchy trigger finger, incompetence and carelessness while wearing a badge.
To all the many cop-haters on Free Republic:
You have a lot of balls calling yourselves conservatives. Why don’y you join your ideological fellow-travelers at the Huffington Post so you can collaborate on your next cop bashing protest march with your comrades Al Sharpton and Bill Ayres. Maybe you can even burn and loot and murder your way through your own neighborhoods like your buddies in the LA riots while chanting “no justice, no peace!” What fun!
How long before you frauds start bashing our military?
The young man strolled nonchalantly into the middle of a gunfight.
He didn’t respond to the cop’s demand to show his hands.
Conclusion: The victim had an iPod in his ears.
The quality of law enforcement has gone down in direct proportion to the increase in the size of government.
