With Medicare, individuals must choose one of two paths: original fee-for-service Medicare, or a federally subsidized private Medicare Advantage plan, which typically operates like a health-maintenance or preferred-provider organization.
Over the next 10 years, the new health-care law will divert some $132 billion from Medicare Advantage... This has sparked concern that these plans may reduce benefits, raise premiums, or both.
Also starting in 2011, Medicare Advantage participants who want to switch to another Advantage plan will have to do so in Medicare's six-week annual election period from Nov. 15 to Dec. 31. Previously, participants also were permitted to make a switch between Jan. 1 and March 31 of the following year.

The Advantage Plans have already raised Premiums and what one pays for different things and sent a letter. They were very specific that it was because of the Fed Govt.
Wait until they find out their Medicare was cut and gutted by $523 BILLION, with the benefits reduced 8%, 15% less to nursing homes, and the in home nursing care. And NO COLA’s for 3-4 years for SS, retired Military, or retired fed employees.
We are seniors, hubby 71 this year, retired Military, and we still pay Income Tax, and Medicare B premiums. And we are getting socked with BIG NEW FEES (about $7,000 per couple) on Tricare for Lie (required of retired Military over 65) as our secondary health ins. starting in 2011, from a 2008 DOD bill.
Along with higher property taxes and other state and county fee increases. IF we don’t BOUNCE the tax and spenders in Nov, you can add a VAT tax to that.
Our daughter’s (36) single, self employed, buys her own health ins., just went up 17%!
Yup. And when the Marxist take over health care completely (which is their plan) seniors won’t be allowed to get any health care whatsoever even if they want to pay for it privately. All health care will be rationed by the government.
This is the equivalent of loading the disabled, sick, elderly and non-productive undesirables onto the cattle cars.
Refuse to go along.

Jim we paid in all our lives we still pay federal Income Tax. Hubby is a retired Senior Chief. Who didn’t sit on his butt after he retired, but went to college after those 20 to get his teaching degree, then spent the next 21 years teaching telecommunications at the community college level.
We give back to our community in volunteer services he in Ham Radio emergency preparedness and St Jude’s marathon, etc. I make quilts for our Wounded Troops (along with my guild) and for the Alpha Omega Houses for the recovering addicted Veterans, plus other charity sewing. Our bodies are worn out. But we are still useful just at a slower pace.

I know what you mean. I’m approaching 65 myself but there is no retirement in my future. I suspect I will be working until the day I keel over my keyboard.

I’m disabled and pay for straight Medicare, an additional premium for a private supplemental plan to cover the 20% balance, and a premium for a private ‘enhanced’ Rx plan. Even still, upon comparison of ALL the fine print (which isn’t easy), I found absolutely no ‘advantage’ to having any of the private Medicare Advantage plans.
GOD BLESS you for doing this. My hurting arthritic hands keep me awake at night, but like you I keep going and will until our Maker calls me home. It is to important a job to stop, our future generations freedom is at stake. It’s the responsibility of each generation to GUARD that freedom to the last breath.
