God save and bless America. Thanks for posting this.
No, I don't think that's quite right. The country was founded on freedom for religion, not freedom from religion which is what the "wall of separation" crowd are pushing, in the name of freedom of religion.
When you boil it all down, the wall-of-separation model of freedom of religion means religion can have no legitimate support or protection from government (or the state) in any way, shape, or form. Which means our freedom for religion cannot be guaranteed by the Constitution at all even if the Framers and the We the People wanted religious liberty to be guaranteed and deliberately put such a provision in the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights. First Amendment would be "unconstitutional" on this model because it negatively protects free religious exercise by restraining the government from violating it.
See? The government is still involved with religion here. Evidently the wall of separation crowd demand that all government involvement, positive (establishment clause) or negative (free exercise clause), must end.
So much for freedom of religion.... JMHO FWIW.
Thank you so much for the ping, metmom, to your excellent essay/post!
Thank you...that was beautiful. I already passed it on.
Nevertheless, it is NOMINALLY a Christian country, and if you look at the white population in isolation, religious devotion has declined considerably (and consistently) since the 1920s.
What is the source of your belief that any principles other than Christian principles were instrumental in the founding of America?
The Constitution founded the government and religion is not a part of the government so one cannot say that any religion founded the government. The Constitution acknowledged that its citizens may hold religious beliefs but beliefs held by the elected could not trump the governments function.
All that can be learned of the history of America and its founders point directly and only to Christianity for the founding of the nation. When did Judeo principles enter in to the founding of this nation?
Thank you for sharing your insights, dearest sister in Christ!
Amen! Founded on Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule. FRegards ....
As it is, kids can wear satanic tee-shirts, but not the opposite. Leftist professors have poisoned the well for over half a century.
