PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) A 36-year-old man attending the second round of The Players Championship was subdued by a Taser on Friday.
Travis Parmelee, of Jacksonville, was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence, said St. Johns County Sheriffs Office Capt. Dave Messenger.
Messenger said course marshals notified officers that Parmelee was yelling at players and being belligerent near the 11th hole. Officers responded and attempted to calm Parmelee down, but they said he became more combative.
They tried to take Parmelee into custody, but he resisted and was Tasered once.
He was at the point where it was time for law enforcement to step in, Messenger said. Our goal is to escort people off the property, but it was clear he wasnt going to go with us.

“Don’t tase me bro!”:{
My smart ass response is that liberals would rather police use tasers instead of pistols. Peronally, I think we should use them on liberals, not use them liberally. (smile)
Drunken taunting of authority should result in PAIN.
I heard, on either Fox or ABC news one day, that police are using tasers like cattle prods to herd people for crowd control.
Long story short, ZAP!, and he was in an ambulance 5 minutes later and he was fine. Just dazed. And he gave us zero problems after that.
Precisely. Some moron on this thread compares it to a "bee sting". I see the bootlickers are out in full force this morning.
He was charged with resisting arrest without violence. How combative does that sound?
That was me, have you got tased?
You are living in fear and your imagination has run away with you.
Go try it out.
It isn’t a cattle prod. Until you go try it out, you imagination has convinced you that it is the same as a cattle prod and it is merely a means of ensuring compliance through pain.
You are wrong.
If you think getting tased is like a bee sting, you have bigger problems with your imagination than I ever could.
Being tasered at a golf match fit this drunk to a “TEE!”
Maybe so...but I would not be so cavalier, bee stings and wasp stings kill some people, so do tasers.
Do you think they would use cattle prods in training our Marines?

“I would rather be tased then beaten up by the cops.”
The chances for either are pretty slim for me, these days, so I’m pretty agnostic on the whole thing. D&D in public is long in the past as my thing...although it was fun at times, I hate to admit I got to like streetfighting when I was a kid, it never ended well...for someone...and cops get beaten in some situations like this, too. And shot. And killed. It goes both ways.
heh heh...agreed.
No sweetheart, it is a cattle-prod. They are devices that operate on the SAME EXACT principle of electric energy. They are both high voltage, low current appliances.
You're entitled to your own idiotic ideas, but you're not entitled to your own facts.
Don’t worry, he had something to help numb himself a little before he got tazed.
"Officers responded and attempted to calm Parmelee down, but they said he became more combative."
Obviously the police used their best judgment when they tasered the belligerent drunk.
First of all there is a huge difference between being shot with the darts and merely being "drive stunned" as in this case. A drive stun to the body is far less painful and causes far less injury then a strike from a baton or being pepper sprayed for that matter. Having experienced them all in training I would rather be tased any day. It would seem from the story that the fan was also physically resisting the officers and that they took appropriate action which is the least amount of force necessary to protect themselves and gain compliance.
That is a big “if”.
Why so quick to start thinking of excuses for the JBTs?
I hope that the drunk and the golf course officials managed to “IRON” everything out!”
