THE eerie outline of a crashed wartime fighter plane emerges from the sands of a British beach. Incredibly, the rusting wreckage went undetected for more than 60 years.
Now a charity plans to retrieve the American Lockheed P38 Lightning - which suddenly appeared three years ago after being buried on the shore.
It was discovered at low tide following a drop in beach levels at Harlech, North Wales.

Cool picture. Prayers for the pilot.

an aside: how is it that this was noticed 3 years ago when the oceans only began receding at the moment of Obozo’s victory?

That link doesn’t load right for me. Keeps refreshing non-stop!

I don’t know where they found that stock picture of the p-38 in flight, but that isn’t a standard model. Looks like experimental mods to the wings. The one in the sand has the standard wings.

Link didn’t work for me the first time. Hit a manual reload, and it popped up.

Al Whore isn’t going to like this.
Every liberal knows that the sea is rising and Britain is half under water already.

Perhaps of even greater interest, is picture number 3 which is a picture of a P-38 with some rather interesting additions.

When I was young (in the mid-60s), someone had a flying P38 based at a local airport. Seeing it fly over every so often was really a thrill. I don’t think I appreciated it fully until after it wasn’t there any more. I’m not sure what that extra plumbing is on the file photo plane....extra fuel tanks?

I'm pretty sure that was the laminar-flow test platform, referenced
here
One P-38E was fitted with an extended central nacelle to accommodate a tandem-seat cockpit with dual controls, and was later fitted with a laminar flow wing.
However, I'm unable to find a picture of it online, other than in the article.

Duh, just using the wrong search string. Many sites with that pic
here using
P-38E + "laminar flow" to search in

how do you get “under” the beach? Just wondering.
That would be any wartime followers dream to look at, that’s for sure.

Water moves sand around, as does moving air. How do you think the sand gets to the beach in the first place?

The old song was correct:
NO
don’t give me a P-38
the props, they counter-rotate
they’re scattered & sittin’
from Burma to Britain
don’t give me a P-38
NO
-CHORUS-
give me operations
way out on some lonely atoll
for I am too young to die
I just wanna grow old

I know. I was being sarcastic :-D
Buried would’ve been a better description, rather than “under”....

Being a part owner of this plane, I would like it returned!
