The growing capacity of China military force tip the balance in the regional stability of the Asia Pacific area including Taiwan Strait and Southeast Asia, noted Admiral Robert F. Willard, the current Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command (PACOM), while adding that in a broader context, the biggest challenge to US navy in the Pacific Ocean is China, according to Liberty Times report.
“In response to China’s immense presence in the Pacific Ocean, the PACOM will step up its efforts to maintain the regional stability,” said Willard at an interview by the Straits Times, a Singaporean news media.
China is said to establish its “Blue-water Navy” in 2020 and develop the anti-ship missiles targeted at aircraft carriers in the Taiwan Strait, a move that challenges the national interest of the U.S. – freedom of navigation, the report added.
Despite the unwillingness to make threats from China explicit, an official of the PACOM noted on condition of anonymity that China and North Korea are both traditional threats for the US in the northeast Asia, while adding that “it cannot be more careful to refer to China as an US enemy.”
Another senior official in the PACOM noted that challenging China is not a part of the comprehensive strategies of US in the region. Instead, Asian countries should recognize their strategic interests first and take preemptive actions to protect them.

What a shock! I guess the great transformation predicted from communist oppressors to freedom loving capitalist just hasn't come about yet. All that American investment and movement of jobs and technology to China just hasn't done what those who advocated the polices promised.

Because they think they will share power if the Chinese become the dominant global force in the world. These press people and celebrities think that the Chinese are these ignorant savages who will bow before their glorious enlightenment. ‘
