NewsBusters on Wednesday shared a truly heartbreaking video with its readers dealing with the Nashville flood that so many people in the nation hadn't heard about due to the media's focus on the Gulf oil spill and Faisal Shahzad.
News outlets are beginning to try to explain to their patrons why such a devastating event got so over-shadowed.

I am surprised that they haven’t trotted out their dead horse of “climate change”, maybe they realize that that doesn’t work anymore, so these climate events aren’t worth noticing, especially when they can’t advance their narrative.
So did Katrina. But I suppose you believe what the TV tells you.
“Yeah, I lived in Cedar Rapids two years back when they flooded, badly, historically badly, thousands lost everything. Almost no coverage in the national media... again, all nice boring quiet white people, no looting or rioting...”
My wife had some distant relatives (in miles and blood relation), who sent out emails showing the pictures of the flood and asking why the Federal government didn’t rescue them.
Not sure what that picture is supposed to convey. Hitting the screw on the head?
I think that’s one of those gripper nails.
The flood wasn’t covered because it couldn’t be spun to the Democrats’ political advantage. If there was some kind of liberal stake in it, it would have been covered.
gee...I wonder why.....
We have a winner!
Because blacks weren’t standing on their rooftops and the pundits weren’t there screaming where’s the government help!!!
Of course that all happened before the ‘age of Obama.’
Not just any white people; Conservative, God-fearing, Constitution-loving white people. No votes to pander to here...
I see you don’t have much experience with hand tools.
John Rich has written a song dedicated to them and is encouraging donations to Red Cross. You can download it on his website www.johnrich.com. I would like to donate to a responsible group but not Red Cross. Anyone have any suggestions?

I liked the YouTube presentation at the link in the first paragraph.
First collection of pictures I have seen on the flood.
Because mostly white neighborhoods were flooded.
According to Wikipedia -
Nashville -
White 64.8% Black 28.3%
New Orleans -
White 28.05% Black 67.25%
Telethon thread, and lots more links to other areas hit by the 52 county flooding and 13 small twisters...NO COVERAGE of MS or AR has been done either, and they were hit just as hard with both flash flood and twisters.

Oops!
Genoa is right. It's a ring-shank nail, FRiend.
I volunteer with the Red Cross and set up a shelter here last Saturday. We had very few people stay there, in spite of there being hundreds of homes flooded in our town. Mostly they would check in, then a family that wasn’t affected would come in and “adopt” them.
At another shelter, it was mostly people who got stuck on the freeway who stayed there.
At a third, there were a whole bunch of people.... but their county was virtually an island, and we had trouble getting them supplies. It finally took the National Guard to get them food and water.
In one community that was underwater, they didn’t wait for the government entities to save them. Anybody who had a boat was out helping. I heard a report that the police and fire departments did over 600 water rescues in 24 hours. The locals knew not to wait.
So, you are right. We are a self sufficient group, doing what needs to be done, handling “life”, helping our neighbors. Of course, that doesn’t make for good “news”.
Obama doesn’t like American people.
