U.S. Panel Criticized as Overstating Cancer Risks

A dire government report on cancer risks from chemicals and other hazards in the environment has drawn criticism from the American Cancer Society, which says government experts are overstating their case. Related

The government’s 240-page report, published online Thursday by the President’s Cancer Panel, says the proportion of cancer cases caused by environmental exposures has been “grossly underestimated.” It warns of “grievous harm” from chemicals and other hazards, and cites “a growing body of evidence linking environmental exposures to cancer.”

the president appointed a panel that then urged (very nearly begged) him to take control of our food, water, and air because they were giving us cancers that we are apparently too stupid to even know about. and then the american cancer society, presumably the subject matter experts in this field, calls them a bunch of hysterics.

didn’t candidate obama condemn president bush for politicizing science (among about a zillion other things)? in fact, didn’t obama oddly seem to claim personal ownership over science (along with truth, honesty, integrity, and flossing after meals) ?

was the man just idly saying whatever sounded good when he was a candidate? or was he just so naive and inexperienced that he did not realize that he was talking a bunch of sh*t? or has he decided that what he said then simply doesn’t matter now that he is president?

the phrase “hypocrite and liar” comes to mind.

We’re all going to work for OSHA or EPA one day. It will take all us to protect us from all the environmental hazards.

and we will be members of SEIU, and we will all have the same crappy health insurance. (crappy, but everyone will have the same. that was always the secret point). and we will all be slaves.

To be listed as a carcinogen, the government does not consider what rate the chemical is associated with cancer. Many of them at expected doses are about 1/1,000,000 for a life time dose.

Consider that the normal rate of cancer death is about 300,000/1,000,000. So basically if a chemical raises that rate to 300,001/1,000,000, the government wants to scare people enough give them more power.

The biggest cause of death is . . . living.
