State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe (R-12) submitted a bill, May 5, that would give state and local in Pennsylvania powers akin to those held by Arizona authorities under that state's recently passed law, and require that "every agency or political subdivision of this Commonwealth shall verify the lawful presence in the United States of any natural person 18 years of age or older who has applied for Federal public benefits, State public benefits or local public benefits . . that are administered by an agency or a political subdivision of this Commonwealth" with some exceptions such as treatment of an emergency medical condition, in-kind emergency disaster relief, immunizations and services such as soup kitchens and short-term shelter.

But don't expect it to pass with Fast Eddie as gub.
Excellent idea. The taxpayer shouldn't be forced to support people from around the globe. There's way too much welfare in America already. We can't even feed the democrat base we have now.
I passed by Metcalfe’s sign this morning on the way to work and wondered who he is. I used to volunteer teaching English in this area and most of my students were illegal. We were explicitly told not to ask anything that required them to reveal their immigration status. But you can tell anyway.
Things that make too much sense have a slim chance of happening in Pensylvania.
Our one hope will be November — a Republican governor. We need a real Republican governor, not the RINOs we’ve had in the past. A Republican majority in both houses of the legislature will help too.
We're in a major, Obomanomics depression. He has to cut back somewhere, and his only other choice is government union workers.
Primary is May 18 and Sam Rohrer fits the bill.
I've posted before on this, so perhaps it's stale to some. I was a volunteer reading tutor at a local Middle School. I figured most of the kids would be Hispanic, due to the language barrier. About 90% of the group was Hispanic, but the problem lay elsewhere. I was stunned when the teachers, who accepted that most of them were illegals, told me the kids were lagging because their fathers forbade them from speaking OR READING English at home. "Spanish is your heritage." they were told. (So much for assimilation.)
The sad part was that the kids were eager to learn. We had some selection of reading material so I always chose something about U.S. history. One time, on June 6th, I asked my two female students if they knew what anniversary that was. One looked at the other and said, "La Guerra?" (the War?). I was so happy that I could have clapped her on the shoulder for knowing even that much as many native-borns, kids AND adults, are clueless.
Ping!
California Penal Code Sec 834b
Funny how ya never hear about things like this...doubt if all that many CHP guys know about it
Or how many DO, but don't do anything with it
I'll take either one over Corbett or Rendell.
