Judge holds woman in contempt for wearing offensive T-shirt

A Round Lake Park woman was held in contempt and jailed because a judge found a message on her T-shirt offensive. Associate Judge Helen Rozenberg held Jennifer LaPenta, who was attending a hearing in a friend's case, in contempt of court for wearing a T-shirt that read: "I have the p----, so I make the rules."

The judge asked LaPenta, 19, if she thought her shirt was appropriate.

LaPenta said she told the judge that it would have been inappropriate if she had been the defendant.

"They should be out looking for people who are breaking the law, not arresting someone wearing a T-shirt," said LaPenta, 19. She was released from Lake County Jail on Tuesday.

LaPenta said she had been at a gym Monday when her friend asked her for a ride to the courthouse. She was wearing sweat pants and the T-shirt when she was handcuffed and jailed

OK so the woman is a jerk, but I saw a picture of her in the shirt and I just had to laugh. Okay so I'm bad, but it was funny. If this doesn't make you laugh, you have no sense of humor. That's what she should have told the judge.

Lighten up your honor.

Well, she is telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Seems appropriate to me. If this were an Obummer appointee, she would have been wearing the same shirt under her robe.

If we start locking up people for being crude, classless messes, the Phillies will have nobody at their baseball games.

I’m guessing that there was more to this story than the shirt. I’m guessing she was asked to leave the courtroom and if she wanted to come back to be dressed appropriately. I’m also guessing she smarted off to the judge. Judge’s have a hard time holding the line on this sort of time and since each judge is the ruler of his/her courtroom, I’m on the judge’s side.

If this was 1975, the judge would be spot on. But now, it’s acceptable to wear that shirt to Mass, weddings, funerals, job interviews and Obama’s inauguration. He shoulda just told her to get out of the courtroom.

I guess freedom of speech doesn’t apply in the courthouse. He should have asked her to leave and not return. If she refused then contempt. He may have...I didn’t read the entire story.

Reading the t-shirt....and taking a look at her, she can keep her p***y...and she isn’t maing the rules for me. I consider her to be a double bagger.

The pic with the original article tells you about everything you need to know about her. A contemptible person who shows contempt for everything, I’d say.

I doubt this young woman (she doesn’t have the excuse of being a kid) will learn her lesson. Rather, she’ll wonder why the world is being so hard on her while she walks around making a nuisance of herself.

It turns out that, inside a court room, it’s the guy in the black dress with the big gavel that gets to make the rules.

And nobody forced the brain dead idiot judge to practice law in a country where due process is required of even judges.

If that demonstrably narcissistic tyrant wannabe cant get simple things strait then the law is the very last job that individual should hold.

“I consider her to be a double bagger.”

A double bagger with the lights out, senses numbed with prodigious amounts of alcohol, and a loaded gun to your (or my) head.
