I own an office building which we have been remodeling for some time now. I recently hired a concrete contractor to replace our front entry walk. This contractor has been fighting from becoming unionized for over a decade now. I was told to be expected to be picketed if we gave him the job. His price was right, his reputation excellent and to me his anti-union stance is a real badge of honor for America. So, he got the job.
True to the rumor, we had some picketers show up each day. Generally just two sometimes up to four. The contractor was friendly with them and they with him. I guess they have gotten to know each other over the years.
I learned from one of my tenants today that UPS will not deliver or pickup because their drivers refuse to "cross picket lines". No matter that the tenant, nor the building is technically being picketed, it is just the contractor. UPS' attitude is basically "screw the customer" and they refuse to do anything about it. The tenant was not given any notice, he had to learn from noticing that they had not picked up for a couple of days.
I personally will only use UPS from now on when I absolutely have to. I will spread this true story around everywhere I can. We MUST stop companies who are so reckless and crude to customers that they would do such as this.
I hope you will consider the same.
Ping to post #7.
Good post. I’m in a union (police officer). I wonder what would happen if we refused to respond to a non-union location. Ha!
...walk up and hand them written notice that you are cancelling your account with them, and are instead switching to FedEx...
...turn to the picketers, and say "Thanks guys!"

THANKS.
Before you start calling someone “SCUMBAG”,
realize these “true stories” get picked up
on blogs, spread like a virus and do harm
to innocent people. It is a tactic of our
enemies. That said, I apologize for not
recognizing this was a vanity. I thought
the thread was posted from another site and
did not mean to imply you are lying. Please
remain civil. We can work out our differences
without thuggery and name calling.
thx
Good one!!!
There was a UPS strike in the late 90’s when I was living in Houston, TX. HPD dealt with multiple unions at the time. One of the smaller bargaining units insisted that officers pull over any “scab” drivers just to “teach them a lesson”. The rep for the larger union, who I believe was also in a command position, ordered that no such thing was to be done, that all HPD officers were to conduct their duties in a professional manner. Would such an action suggested by the former be considered illegal?
Excellent point. Have you ever noticed how the only time it seems you can get a union guy off his butt is when he falls all over himself in his haste to stop someone else from performing? ;-)
To my knowledge, a union cannot tell cops what to do in a official capacity in terms of something like who to pull over. The legality would seem to be questionable. Our union reps give us suggestions on how to deal with certain circumstances, but everything conforms with dept guidelines.
It is happening at my building scumbag...
Ummm..., what's the "scumbag" part all about ...
I hate to tell you this, but from "personal experience" I find that people who call others scumbags are actually idiots ...
Sorry to inform you of this ... :-)
Use DHL.
A threat by Wal-Mart (or any other company, for that matter) to shut itself down entirely is not a very credible threat. A threat to shut down an individual store or group of stores, though, sure is.
And a threat to make dramatic reductions (in response to anticipated rising costs) of purchases from other major corporations is sometimes enough to scare the sh!t out of even the most radical leftist in Congress.
And I have found that 99.7% of all people who call other people idiots are fools...so what is that all about.
It is ok for you to call someone names but no one else can? Or is it you simply have particular revulsion to the term scumbag? Do you even have a clue what I am talking about? I doubt it.
You mean like calling someone a liar right?
It is ok for you to call someone names but no one else can?
No... I'll simply give you the same type of answer you gave -- "I'm just telling you what happens in my presence," ... doncha know ... :-) [namely it has happened at my place of residence, doncha know ...]
[ ... consider this simply a "vanity post" here ... LOL ... ]
If they don’t cross picket lines, they why not picket outside their distribution center so the trucks can’t get out?
I’m a huge FredEx fan!
Here in L.A., UPS is only open until 5-6 pm...when people are heading home. If you are not able to pick up your package at home, your package is automatically sent to the sh*ttiest bum infested headquarters in Los Angeles that you can pick up ONLY before 9 pm. ONE in a busy city like L.A.
unbelievable. That’s why I choose Fedex which is 2 blocks away from me in Hollywood.
