The first thing Omoslem would do is threaten the Tea Parties with this law.

After all, some carry guns. He’d just declare various groups “paramilitary/militia” and point at their anti-gov’t websites, then try to strip their citizenship since they “joined an anti-USA force.”

Before stripping anyone of citizenship, I recommend first collecting back taxes. Otherwise we could see a spike in terrorism from tax cheats. KnowwhatImean.

If one lies to gain citizenship, as the Times Square would-be bomber reportedly did, why the need of a bill to strip him of citizenship? What is needed is the common-sense will to protect the US, not another unenforced law.

A criminal or Jihadist immigrant can be stripped of his citizenship because he got it via being naturalized. A native born American citizen cannot be stripped of his citizenship. This is what Senator Lieberman means to say.

I have zero problem with these critters getting their citizenship revoked.

Sorry Joe, that is unconsitutional on its face.

The 14th Amendment says clearly, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”

No law adopted by Congress can change that, period. If you want to take away someone’s citizenship, you have to amend the Constitution. A simple act of Congress is insufficient.

Didn’t soldiers who fought for the Confederacy during the War Between the States lose their US citizenship? If they did, it seems analogous.

Anybody remember Richard Jewell? Under this blatantly unconstitutional bit of legislation he could have had his citizenship taken away.

The idea that the government can take away the citizenship of someone who has not been tried or convicted is a scary one to me. You know damn well that a corrupt administration, such as the current one, could use it on political enemies.
