SEATTLE -- A Washington state jury says a man convicted of killing the family of a National Guard sergeant who was serving in Iraq, then burning down the house in an attempt to conceal the crime, should be sentenced to death.
The King County Superior Court jury's decision was read by Judge Gregory Canova on Wednesday and was met by silence in the courtroom.
Conner Schierman was convicted last month of four counts of aggravated first-degree murder and one count of arson in the 2006 stabbing deaths of 28-year-old Olga Milkin, her two young sons and her sister.
No clear motive ever emerged from the trial.
The 28-year-old Schierman has said he had an alcoholic blackout, only to wake up in the Milkins' neighboring Kirkland home covered in blood with no idea of what happened.

Bump
This happened right down the street from where I lived in Kirkland. It was frightening to think something like this could happen there. I hope he does everyone a favor and doesn’t appeal.
Since he is white he will be executed, but it will take fifty(50)years for the sentence to be carried out. In the mean time he will live well at the taxpayers expense and will at least have the bestial existence so many crave: eating, drinking, drugs, copulation, evacuating his bowels and snoring.
Prayers up for the National Guardsman who lost his family.
Say WA? Evergreen State ping Too bad he has appeals...and appeals...
Hey neighbor! Yes - it hits close to home when something this terrible happens nearby (a couple of miles). You never know what nut case might live nearby and happens to take a fancy to your wife or one of your children as they go on their “walks” through the neighborhood.
Glad that the jury didn’t get snookered by the “temporary insanity” thing.
If he's telling the truth, God help him.
Wow that is scary!
Did the killer know the family?
Or was it at random?
I bet that creeped your family out for life.
I use to fish across the road here in our ocean/bay.
When that creep moved into town to kill and dispose of his family a few miles up the bay road from us, he dumped them in wieghted down sleeping bags, I could not fish anymore without thinking of the wife and kids he killed.
Made the thought of eating bay Crabs or oceanperch unappitizing.
That is one heck of a alcholic black out.
And a very poor defense/excuse.
He had a dark soul/spirit outside of the liqued ones he took part in.
What is the wait on death row in Washington?
I dont remember the last execution Oregon performed.
Or who it was.
Is Oregon and Washington as bad as Cali in carrying out death sentences?
I know here in Oregon the killers can choose solitary to keep them from other prisoners.
And they get mail from the mentally ill women that latch on to them from their ill fame via the media.
That woman who married Richard Rodrigous (?) the Night Stalker and fornicates with him.
Creepy.
I dont understand why a cold blooded serial murdered get the privlage post trial/sentence to marry and possibly proceate.
I guess it is consedered a religeous right/rite so perhaps the state/federal govt cannot deny it.
He very well could be. It doesn't mitigate anything though. Many brutal crimes have been committed during alcoholic stupors and those criminals are just as guilty as sober ones. Death sentences have been carried out as well on criminals who were drunk when they murdered.
This is such a horrible crime. I can't believe I'm only just now learning about it. If such a crime as this didn't earn a death penalty, there's no reason to even have capital punishment.
