Critics say Russia trumped US in pact on strategic weapons

WASHINGTON (AP) — A panel of arms experts critical of the Obama administration claimed Wednesday that Russia bested the United States in a new treaty designed to reduce the two countries' arsenals of long-range nuclear weapons.

President Barack Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev last month signed the historic "New START" treaty, the first major nuclear weapons reduction accord in nearly two decades.

The agreement aims to reduce the number of strategic nuclear warheads in each arsenal to 1,500 over seven years, about a third less than the 2,200 currently permitted.

Obama and his advisers consider the treaty a major step toward the president's goal of a nuclear-free world. The pact, which Obama has not yet submitted to the Senate for ratification, would help reduce the role of nuclear weapons in U.S. security strategy.

Speaking at the Nixon Center, James R. Schlesinger, secretary of defense in the Nixon and Ford administrations, said the United States made substantial concessions to the Russians to seal the deal.

He said he would support ratification only if the Senate provides for new U.S. weapons not prohibited by the treaty.

Along those lines, Stephen Rademaker, assistant secretary of state for arms control in President George W. Bush's administration, said it was likely the treaty would be approved. But he said, he hoped senators would "ask questions" first about Russian development of new weapons.

"The treaty obligates the U.S. to reduce (its arsenal). The Russians don't have to do anything. They are there already," Rademaker said, referring to the treaty's lowered ceiling of 1,550 long-range nuclear warheads within seven years.

"Every hard issue in the treaty is favorable to the Russians," he said.

Remember, Obama licks Putin’s boots, even more than just bowing down to him.

What? We got a bad deal? Well, that’s the price of purchased PR. Superman needs to claim achievement so the thumb-sucking rubes will vote for him again. Kool-Aid is getting expensive.

Yeah, and Putin detests Obama and has clearly demonstrated his contempt first by sending former President Bush a very courteous "Thank-you" letter for being a capable leader and cordial host, then by leaving Moscow the day Obama visited.

It's hard to respect a person who licks your boots.

DUH!

We have a narcissistic sociopath in the White House who is only concerned with his own history, his own name making, screw the results and consequences. Obama “wants a nuclear free world” and he will rest high on his laurels of that while Russia is actually playing chess to win. This is why liberals need not be in a position of power, they have no basis of reality. Only what they WANT.

Yep, and while they had their disagreements, you knew that Putin respected President Bush.

Obama Espoused Radical Views in College [advocated communist revolution]
Steve Malzberg - WOR News Talk Radio 710 ^ | February 12, 2010 | Ronald Kessler

Dr. John C. Drew, a grant writing consultant in Laguna Niguel, Calif., tells Newsmax he met Obama in 1980 when Obama was a sophomore at Occidental College in Los Angeles. Drew had just graduated from Occidental and was attending graduate school at Cornell University.

During Christmas break, Drew says he was at Grauman-Boss’ home in Palo Alto when Obama came over with Mohammed Hasan Chandoo, his roommate from Pakistan.

“Barack [Obama] and Hasan showed up at the house in a BMW, and then we went to a restaurant together,” Drew says. “We had a nice meal, and then we came back to the house and smoked cigarettes and drank and argued politics.”

For the next several hours, they discussed Marxism.

“He [Obama] was arguing a straightforward Marxist-Leninist class-struggle point of view, which anticipated that there would be a revolution of the working class, led by revolutionaries, who would overthrow the capitalist system and institute a new socialist government that would redistribute the wealth,” says Drew, who says he himself was then a Marxist.

“The idea was basically that wealthy people were exploiting others,” Drew says. “That this was the secret of their wealth, that they weren’t paying others enough for their work, and they were using and taking advantage of other people. He was convinced that a revolution would take place, and it would be a good thing.”

Drew concluded that Obama thought of himself as “part of an intelligent, radical vanguard that was leading the way towards this revolution and towards this new society.” ...”

Referring to Obama’s quote from “Dreams of My Father” that he associated with Marxist professors, Drew says, “What he’s not saying is that he was in 100 percent total agreement with those Marxist professors. When you understand that, Obama’s later associations and policies make more sense, including why he was taken in by Rev. Wright’s ideology.”

Statement: "Critics say Russia trumped US in pact on strategic weapons"

Response: I would not be suprised. Every act "The Divine One" and his apostles undertake will harm the United States. They cannot help it, it is their very nature to bungle and botch. They are seriously flawed people.
