It would be tempting to buy it and turn it into a highly successful and profitable conservative news outlet.

A conservative news weekly would do very well, I would think.

Buy it then run it for a year and force the liberal staff to write conservative articles (especially Elenanor Cliff). Then shut it all down.

What asset does Newsweek have other than the copyright to the name and images?

Anybody could buy it and turn it into a conservative magazine overnight.

The problem is that even a conservative newsweekly just won’t last. The market won’t tolerate 3 anymore. There’s already Time and US News.

The irony is that nobody can run it as cheaply as WaPo can. They already have a stable of writers who can use their research to write a newspaper article and then a magazine article.

The problem: Newsweek over the past year has damaged their brand severely. All they had to sell was their reputation and that’s now worthless.

I think Newsweek could be a profitable conservative media platform if someone like Murdoch bought it. Or at least the name has some value.

I was a reader of Newsweek for 30 years, going back to as a kid in the 70’s. Had a subscription as an adult. But finally a couple years ago they announced their new strategy to be a progressive magazine. Then I canceled and haven’t looked back. I do realize it was getting worse and worse over the last ten years as they let Jonathan Alter and Jon Meachem take it over.
