I’d be interested in a poll of Hispanic Americans (citizens/legals) on this subject.
Will they take the patriotic side, or the “Hispanic-at-all-cost” side?
A lot of Hispanics, whether legal immigrants or true-blue-born-right-here-in-the-USA-from-a-family-that-was-here-before-us-Anglos, don't particular care for illegals either. Illegals drag down their wages and bring crime to their neighbourhoods too.

The perceived need to pander to Hispanics by allowing and supporting illegal entry (improperly termed illegal “immigration”), on the part of Republicans (see the Bushes), speaks loudly to the fact that they believe it is the latter.

Minority Advocates, Constituents Differ on Immigration - Zogby poll
[snip]While it is sometimes assumed that minorities, particularly Hispanics, favor increased immigration and legalization for illegal immigrants, a new Zogby survey finds that minority voters views are more complex. The poll of Hispanic, Asian-American, and African-American likely voters finds some support for legalization. But overall each of these groups prefers enforcement and for illegal immigrants to return home.
Hispanics: Just 20 percent said illegal immigration was caused by not letting in enough legal immigrants; 61 percent said inadequate enforcement.
* Hispanics: 52 percent support enforcement to encourage illegals to go home; 34 percent support conditional legalization. *

Up here in NE AZ, most of the Hispanics I know (dunno if they're all legal) are for the law - they're aware of the low-wage competition from their illegal "compadres".
