NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- WSMV-TV Channel 4 will broadcast Working 4 You: Flood Relief with Vince Gill & Friends on Thursday, May 6, in prime time from 7 to 10 p.m.
Nashville and the surrounding middle Tennessee communities have been devastated by floodwaters after the area received 15 inches of rain within a 48-hour time period. Thousands of middle Tennesseans have been evacuated from their homes with many losing everything to the flood. Many of the victims do not have flood insurance, and the demands on relief agencies are stretched to the limit.
These are our friends and family; we always take care of our friends and family, said Meredith Senior Vice President and WSMV-TV General Manager Elden Hale Jr. Its unfortunate that were called upon to do this again for our neighbors, but we are very proud to have the ability to reach out to so many people with Nashvilles flood relief telethon.
All proceeds from Working 4 You: Flood Relief with Vince Gill & Friends will benefit The Salvation Army, The Red Cross and The Second Harvest Food Bank.
Others involved include Naomi Judd, Phil Vassar, Bo Bice, Lee Roy Parnell, Darius Rucker.
The telethon will also be streamed live on WSMV.com.
You are right. It is perhaps the most disturbing part of this isnt it? After Katrina with all the hysterical coverage, the IGNORED these same kind of floods in PA area.
And now, there is cursory coverage but they are soon on to something more “sexy”. I think 10 people dead in Nashville alone is more than enough to merit more attention.
You and me both. 1 dead that I know of in flood waters in Memphis.
A lot of the reasons they cover us so little is the southern states are not 0 friendly statesin general. (Only big cities like Memphis). And if they cover the oil spill they are not covering his other high jinks in ruining our country.
Just saying we saw in NOLA law abiding permit holders disarmed. Don’t say it can’t ever happen because of x, y or z.
Does anyone have news of the conditions around Linden,TN (Perry County)? Cant reach anyone due to “Phone lines in that Area Code where not “In service at this time”)
Go to the tennessean website, wlac and wsvm tv for updates. I have some people who work for me in that area who are OK but have some heavy duty flood damage.
Due to the flooding, most phone lines are down in that area as well.
Vido up on this thread, I went and found some things on MS and AR and added it.

Thank you for the info.
I did donate to the Red Cross for Tennessee ( I don’t usually donate to the Red Cross since the 9-11 debacle) but I did this time.
I told the person on the phone, I am stunned it is not getting more media coverage and National calls for help. When it comes to Haiti or Chile, it goes National, but not when it’s an event here in the U.S.!!
She said she was disappointed in that as well.
And that it is getting local coverage, (but a lot of good that does when everyone is flooded!)
Hope to catch the event tomorrow.
Why is no one putting this out Nationally?
Oh yeah it would take away from the ‘all Obama all the time’ crap.
THANK YOU!
I just read on Instapundit that this is the biggest disaster never covered. One of the commenters said Anderson Cooper last night admitted they missed the story and he is on his way to town. The local FOX station was in the flood zone so they are only broadcasting 2 hrs per day live. Did BIG FOX send anyone? um.....no. They relied on a guy from Fox Memphis who spent his time on air talking about the Memphis area.
You can see the great video on Newsbusted:
Thanks GailA! I just saw this video! It is SO accurate!!!!
New thread from todays Commic Appeal 48 photos of the storm damage. Shelby Co has still not been named a disaster area by our government. We are the red headed step child of the state.
You would have thought at least the governor would have come and viewed the damage to the Navy base. The biggest employer outside of FedX.

Missed it, we were at choir practice last night during evening news, and didn’t watch the 10pm either.

I went to Franklin Graham’s site, www.samaritan.org and they are looking for volunteers to help in Nashville, but no specific designation for donations as far as I could see.
I am a donating type of guy.
Unfortunatly i am struggling to keep my owm house at the moment.
As a kid i dreamed of the year 2000.
Every thing would be great.
Yea right.
The live telethon just ended BUT you can STILL donate to many places who REALLY need it:
www.wlac.com (stays local in Middle TN)
www.wsmv.com
Those are the best resources.
The Telethon tonight is probably going to top $2million. The BIGGEST donation came from Taylor Swift in the amount of $500,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS THAT KID!!!!!!!!!!!
The Goracle hasnt been seen OR heard from during this ENTIRE episode. We had RECORD breaking COLD and FREEZING during the Winter.....from the Goracle.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
CALIFORNIA CAN KEEP HIM.....birds of a feather so to speak!
“Taylor Swift in the amount of $500,000”
WOW!!!!
I thought she was kinda weird until I fell in love with her the second i saw her expression when Kanye ripped the mike away from her.
Now i’m a really BIG fan.
1.7 mil total. A very good night for Nashville. Work is progressing at a very fast rate. Nissan N.A. gave 300,000. Vince gave 100,000 and hosted. Many of the musicians lost their valuable equipment and keepsakes when a major storage flooded. (It was an exclusive equipment and wardrobe storage for Opry members.)
