WASHINGTON (AP) - Top U.S. law enforcement officials offered no explanation Tuesday for how the suspect in the failed Times Square bombing was allowed to board an international flight despite being hunted by the FBI and being placed on the federal no-fly list.
At a news conference, Attorney General Eric Holder said the suspect, Faisal Shahzad, had admitted trying to set off a car bomb in crowded Times Square on Saturday. He will face terrorism and weapons of mass destruction charges, Holder said.

05/04/10 3:18 PM EDTSen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and other top Republicans on Tuesday said the suspect arrested for attempting to explode a car bomb in New York City should not have been read his Miranda rights.
McCain called the move "a bad mistake," and said the suspect, Faisal Shahzad, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Pakistan, was not entitled to be Mirandized.
"It's not a constitutional right," McCain said. "And he may have to be designated an enemy combatant."
Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, a former state supreme court justice, also said the suspect should not have been read a Miranda warning, which essentially alerts a suspect to a right to remain silent and a right to an attorney.
Federal officials said Tuesday that Shahzad was read his rights today after being questioned for a period of time. Attorney General Eric Holder said Shahzad is still cooperating and providing information to authorities.

The guy should’ve raised all kinds of red flags, ABC news (on radio) said he made his reservation on the way to the airport and paid with cash.

FNC has been running a clip called “From Day One”, where they show comment after comment from the administration, saying, “From day one...[we’ve been on top of this]”.
It is hysterical to see and hear all these clowns try to convince the public that THEY were on top of the oil spill, the illegal immigration, the NYC bomber, etc,... “FROM DAY ONE”!
Sorry state of affairs when we have to count on the incompetence of terrorists for safety.
I think it would be easier to apprehend a suspect on a plane rather than in a crowded terminal where the perp could run, or do any number of other things, with potentially thousands of people at risk. Strapped into a seat makes you more vulnerable to a couple of guys standing up.
It does not matter, though- it looks like they did not deliberately let him on the plane, if in fact he got on. There is a little cloudiness as to just where he was nabbed.
This pic reminds me of the all the school busses sitting in five feet of water after Katrina hit New Orleans. Definitely a Marxist photo op moment. Apparently the Onada propaganda organs are so busy staging fiction the regime has no idea what’s really going on.
