presence of a renowned African American rocket scientist in a very successful position

This is just me talking, here, but I would prefer to be "A Renowned Rocket Scientist"....

NOT a "Renowned Caucasian-Irish-American Rocket Scientist".

I'm guessing, but the scientist in question might not have enjoyed being referred to like an exhibit at a zoo. "Class, lookit the intelligent, motivated, successful black guy, he's hard to find in the wild".

The fact that the field trip was for black kids only, is just icing on the cake. Sanctimonious liberal prejudice never fails to disgust me.

And that line continues in madatory ethnic sensitivty classes through and into colllege.

When one brings logic to the discussion, people in the class can’t handle the “tenseness” and beg the questioner to just go with the flow...

It’s not like WE ALL have not seen this growing up!!!

I won’t be sending my kids to any public school if I have any say in the matter. Catholic schools here.

just imagine the flak in the news if this had been a white principle making the decision to only send white students to listen to a white astronuat....

The words of their OWN school principal

I missed that, had to go back and re-read the article.

Amazing. Simply amazing. Just when I think that liberal hatred can't lower the bar any further, they dig a deeper hole.

However, this is a school principal we're talking about here. Remember that those who can, do. Those who can't do, teach. And those who can't teach, administrate.

But I'd still not let this guy anywhere near my kids. Especially if they were black. Hate running this deep, is dangerous.

like an exhibit at a zoo

Like the Australian aborigine that was on display at the World's Fair as an example of "human evolution".

This is a perfect example of an assertion, for purely ideological reasons, of something obviously untrue. Like the equality of the races, the equivalence of the sexes, the unimportance of heredity, the normalcy of homosexuality, and the insignificance of physical or mental handicap, a whole series of monstrous absurdities on which liberalism depends to modify by destroying education and many other aspects of American culture.

Look.

Obama is black, Oprah is black, Rice is black, athletes, scholars, writers, janitors, judges, cops, criminals, priests, millionares, mayors....

The real deal is ALL people are loyal at some level to the group they identify with. It was my hope growing up that educators and people with intellectual and emotional fiduciary responsibility would be above RACE and promote HUMAN students.

Sadly, we know that is not the case. Education is stacked like cordwood with biased, racists, sexist, classist educators.

It is supported by and practically written into the curriculum at every college of education pumping out and re-certifying these teachers. And then they have along to go along with the dogma to get their pensions.

It is a great gig for perpetuating the leftist muck.

Personally, I don't see why this became controversial in the first place.

I probably wouldn't have a huge issue with it either, except for the hypocrisy of it all.

Liberals will answer the racism charge by arguing that racism means prejudice plus power. And since it is the whites who have power, then only whites can be racist, a term that cannot be applied to any black. There are even some who argue that all whites are racist to at least some degree, since they all benefit from institutional racism.

It is important because, as Bill Ayers knows, it is planting the seeds of this country’s future.

Why do you think the bomber is into education and children’s books?

The leftists are no playing an end game. They want people from the cradle to the early-committee-scheduled grave.

You have to watch Catholic Schools, too. The “accredation process” and their close support aliances with local public schools have a real influence.

It’s a real battle out there. Real.

“close the achievement gap between white and black students.”

Translation: “If we can’t educate the one, we’ll make sure the other stays just as ignorant.”

Exactly. I’d pay good money and drive 50 miles to hear Dr. Thomas Sowell. I wouldn’t pay 50 cents to hear Zer0.

Thomas Sowell has an excellent article today on just this sort of madness which has infected our society......
http://article.nationalreview.com/433353/resenting-achievement-more-than-wealth/thomas-sowell

People who call differences “inequities” and achievements “privilege” leave social havoc in their wake, while feeling noble about siding with the less fortunate. It would never occur to them that they have any responsibility for the harm done to both blacks and Asian Americans.

Personally, I don't see why this became controversial in the first place.

You don't see why discrimination financed by your tax dollars is not a problem? You don't see why it is ok for Blacks to have priviledges not available to Whites, Hispanics and Asians in the same school?

When I saw Thomas Sowell speak (early 90s, maybe), there was a line of young girls waiting to get his autograph on copies of his most recent books. It gives one hope for the future when girls are excited by great intellects, whether scientific or economic.
