Impeach Obama under U.S. Code Title 31 5362, Unlawful Internet Gambling shows that the Obama campaign ran what could qualify as lotteries, and therefore illegal Internet gambling, to raise money. Barack Obama signed his name to one such solicitation and also stated openly that the promotion cheated some of the entrants (by announcing a winner prior to the entry deadline). This activity may also have been illegal under U.S. Code, Title 18 1084, "Transmission of wagering information; penalties," also known as the Federal Wire Wager Act.
Before the bill was passed, the law (RCW 9.46.240) said it was illegal to knowingly send or receive gambling information by telephone, radio, or any other similar means. The bill added the Internet and telecommunications transmissions to this list. This includes gambling on the Internet, operating an Internet gambling site, ... or facilitating Internet gambling in any way.
...Additionally, Internet raffle and lottery activities are prohibited by the Federal Wire Wager Act

Two other men pleaded guilty, and could get up to 16 months in jail (felony?) for conduct that seems to differ little than that of Barack Obama.

The men face 10 to 16 months in prison."

Sorry, FRiend — but America’s laws will not be permitted to stand in the way of global “progress”.
Of course it did. He ran a lottery (not a sweepstakes with a free method of entry).
And some AGs looked into it but the shadow government of liberalism can shut down internal investigations (or at least stonewall them).
Not sure what came of it.
I guess I won’t be holding my breath in hopes that a single solitary thing will come of this.
You are correct. You can’t convict a King.
I remember he ran a similar lottery during the campaign also. I think I recall that he had problems with it in Minnesota. Such a lottery is also illegal here in Kansas...even a church raffle is technically illegal.
I didn’t know there was a federal angle to this also. I’d love it if somebody like Rush initiated an over the top national lottery to have dinner with him...he would lead in to the lottery pitch with “We know this is illegal, but if the POTUS can do it, so can I”.
Trying the case in the court of public opinion ought to do enough damage by itself even if it doesn’t get to the impeachment stage.
And remember there are a lot of Republican House members who hate this guy enough to use a genuine legal opportunity to take him down through impeachment. If he DID break the law, and the above material suggests that he did, any attempt by the Ds to defend him would become their Verdun.

Do Obama’s Recent Fundraising Letters Violate Federal Anti-Gambling Laws?
The Husaria: For Our Freedom and Yours | 11/02/08
The Obama campaign has already been warned by law enforcement agencies against running “Backstage with Barack” and “Dinner with Barack” lotteries in Minnesota and possibly Colorado. Minnesota’s Department of Public Safety counseled Obama for America to provide a means of entering to win a chance to meet Barack Obama without making a donation, which would remove the “payment of consideration” element that makes the scheme an illegal lottery. The Obama campaign agreed to do so, but it apparently broke this promise as of October 31 2008.

Win a date with Obama: illegal in Minnesota? (soliciting contributions for a raffle trip to Denver)

Too bad a retiring Republican won’t do that.
Someone should do a parody song..."Dinner With B'rac"
A dinner was served for three
At Draculas house by the sea
The hors doeurves were fine
But I choked on my wine
When I learned that the main course was me
The waitress a vampire named Perkins
Was so very fond of small gherkins
While serving tea
She ate 43
Which pickled her internal workings
Igor the scalpels go on the left with the pitchforks
Igor, Igor...
What a swimmer is Draculas daughter
But her pool looks more red than it oughter
The blood stains the boats
But its easy to float
Because blood is much thicker than water
(Instrumental Break)
Dracula old friend how are things in Transylvania
For dessert there was batwing confetti
And the veins of a mummy named Betty
I first frowned upon it
But with ketchup on it
It tasted very much like spaghetti
Goodnight whatever you are
I remember the drive by media treatment of Kenneth Starr. I just can’t bring myself to think that anyone going after obummer would be treated any differently.
The sad fact is that impeachment is almost always a political act—not a law enforcement act. Unless a grand jury indicts 0bama, no action will be taken by the House until the
GOP gets a sizable majority.
I don’t think you need a grand jury, just a motion on the House floor.
“If he DID break the law, and the above material suggests that he did, any attempt by the Ds to defend him would become their Verdun.”
Verdun was a stalemate with very little ground gained by the Germans and both sides (Germans and French) suffered grievous losses (close to 400k casualties on each side)
Maybe we could consider this to be more of a smaller turning point battle like El Alamien. We still need the bigger turning point battles such as Stalingrad and Midway to defeat the Regime.
If the Kaiser hadn’t ordered his army to assault Verdun (thus running up the German casualties), Falkenhayn’s strategy would have broken the French Army and probably won the war before Woodrow Wilson got the U.S. involved.
Verdun was politically but not militarily important to France. In other words, it wasn’t militarily valuable but the French government could not afford to lose face by letting Germany capture it. The French obligingly poured thousands of men into a position where they could be killed by massive German artillery barrages, while their counterfire could inflict only 2 German losses for every 5 French (Falkenhayn’s estimate). If the Kaiser hadn’t interfered, it would have worked and Germany would have won the war.
Sun Tzu said you can win by attacking an indefensible position that the enemy is somehow obliged to defend anyway. Verdun was a perfect example, and Obama’s impeachment would be another.
