More than 1,000 acres near March Air Reserve Base has been caught in a 16-year tug-of-war between Riverside County leaders who see it as prime for development and conservationists who say it is needed to help ensure the survival of the endangered Stephens' kangaroo rat.
The federal government has agreed in a court settlement to rescind its 2003 decision to allow development on the 1,178 acres, which was designated a reserve for the 2-ounce, nocturnal rodent, found only in western Riverside County and isolated spots in San Diego County.
In WV, they are building a 4 lane super highway in the sky. A large portion of the plan was delayed to study the WV flying tree squirrel. It delayed things for 10 years, costing WV more than ONE BILLION dollars it doesn't have. There are plans to continue construction in 2023!!!
Vote them out!
It just warms my heart to hear the enviro-whackos whine about some animal, plant, or bug that needs protection from (not man) but nature.
Stop and think about it....it’s the glass half-empty, half-full syndrome.
Was the critter, plant or bug already on the way out of existence simply because it was not adaptable to it’s own surroundings? Or, was it a brand new species that was starting to flourish on the earth?
Doesn’t it seem strange that an extremely small area that supports an extremely low population of these things...only in that location and nowhere else on earth...will impact the earth and it’s future??????????
Kangaroo rats?????? I shudder to think how the earth will be damaged by their demise. I do however think if you brought one (or two for lovemaking) to my backyard here in Texas, they would flourish. The only problem being that some special group or university would not receive taxpayer funding if they survived.
The whole purpose behind these environmental lawsuits is to slow down the US economy so that the democrats can get more poor people onto our voters registration lists. There’s more poor people in the world than any other class and the poor folks will tend to vote for socialism which will keep the Democrats in power.
I often find myself rooting for Kalirnia's demise. They open up their welfare state to illegals and create "sanctuaries" for them.
They shut off the water flow for some 2 inch delta smelt as farmland turns to desert.
They halt land development to preserve the habitat of a rat; even though most logical people count rats as pests and responsible for the spread of plague.
Then these people want to know why they are bankrupt, have ridiculous unemployment rates, and people are fleeing the state.
It's the mentality stupid.
