Obama Defends Priorities, Makes Plea for Civility
By Peter Slevin May 2, 2010 ANN ARBOR, MICH. -- Reflecting on 15 months as the leader of a polarized nation, President Obama delivered a spirited defense of government Saturday and issued a call for civility in a direct rebuttal to Republicans and "tea party" activists who have attacked his politics and priorities.
Obama called for greater tolerance in a "poisonous political climate." He criticized both ends of the political spectrum for using words such as "socialist," "fascist" and "Soviet-style takeover" and lamented that such thinking has begun "to creep into the center of our discourse."
"This kind of vilification and over-the-top rhetoric closes the door to the possibility of compromise," Obama told an audience of 92,000 at the University of Michigan commencement. "It prevents learning -- since after all, why should we listen to a 'fascist' or a 'socialist' or a 'right-wing nut' or a 'left-wing nut?' "
Obama's strong words appeared to reflect his frustration with politics in Washington and his desire to redefine the national debate in time to help Democrats avoid a widely forecast pummeling in November's midterm elections.
The White House has watched, despairingly at times, as tea party activists and top Republicans have stirred a pot of anti-tax, anti-government anger. They have labeled Obama a spendthrift who practices the partisanship he says he abhors and whose policies intrude on individual liberty. At rallies across the country, protesters routinely question his patriotism and say they want to "take back" their country.

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless .... whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.
Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
If Obama doesn’t want to be called “fascist” or “socialist”, there is a simple expedient: He can stop implementing fascist economic policies, and not by switching to socialist ones, reverse the ones he’s already implemented, and refrain from imitating fascists or Communists in other areas of policy. (I’m not sure there are any distinctively socialist features of non-economic policy, except in the more virulent Communist variant.)

Obama’s Big Lie: “government is us”. No, sir, government is the liberal fascist elite political class. Government is an army of job-killing bureaucrats who perpetuate problems in the name of job security. Government is a hermetically sealed chamber of corruption, lies, propaganda and betrayal.

Political compromise does not work when you are dealing with liberal fascists, as John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and Olympia Snowe are too stupid to realize. You cannot do business with liberal fascists any more than you can do business with their fellow travelers in North Korea or Iran. Islam and marxism share the belief that deception is vital for spreading their ideology. Any behavior, no matter how vile, is acceptable if it advances the cause.
Was it not Obama’s great friend and political ally Durbin who called American GIs “Nazis?” Was it not Obama’s pastor and, according to Obama himself, his “mentor”, who said “God Damm the USA?” Is it not Obama himself who questions the motives and character of those who disagree with him? What a gold plated hypocrite!
This is why NO COMPROMISE
