Another possible scenario would be car fire, accelerant causes it to be fully involved very quickly, fire units approach to fight it, tanks cook off. Just knowing “what” doesn't tell us much. How it was configured is the issue.

I also read some messages back about how they found some nails outside the car..reminds me of what suicide bombers do in Israel..its not the bomb itself that kills people, its the shrapnel and nails that kill them

Bump. My first thoughts are that it was designed to be a lure (the vehicle blazes and attracts first responders while the propane tanks cook).
