Last weekend, Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) spoke at a Tea Party gathering in Ramona, CA. Hunter was asked whether he thought that U.S. born children of illegal immigrants should be deported along with their parents.
Hunter said: “I would have to, yes. And let me tell you why. You can say, ‘You are a mean guy. That’s not a humanitarian thing to do.’ We simply cannot afford what we’re doing right now. We just can’t afford it. California is going under. We’re not being mean. We’re just saying, ‘It takes more than just walking across the border to become an American citizen.’ It’s within our souls.”
Rep. Brian Bilbray (R-Calif.), when asked about Hunter’s comments, agreed, telling the North County Times that “if the parents are deported, their U.S.-born children should go with them unless the parents can find a legal resident guardian who can take care of the kids.”
What Hunter, Bilbray and the supporters of the Arizona anti-immigration law want everyone to believe is that all immigrants are criminals. What they don’t want you to know is that the overwhelming majority of immigrants — legal and illegal alike — are good, decent, hard working people simply looking to make a better life for themselves and their families. They pay their taxes (and in the case of illegal workers, without getting any of the benefits that most taxpayers are entitled to), are active in their church communities, and their children excel in school.

And Hunter is absolutely right. If republicans would take this stand “en masse” they would indeed win the 100 house seats Boehner is talking about.

First the author says that not all immigrants are griminals, then later he does make the distinction that some are ILLEGAL. Doesn’t being ILLEGAL mean that you broke the law? Doesn’t that make you a criminal?

Most Americans are decent, hard working people simply looking to make a better life too! But our decks are awash and we are sinking in a sea of debt and just can’t afford to support illegals anymore. The “American Dream” isn’t a suicide pact.
It isn’t like they’re fleeing political or religious persecution and we have some moral imperative to save them. They just want to take our money and send it home. They don’t care about us or our country. We’re just a giant ATM for them.
