Sources say Arpaio will announce run for governor Monday

PHOENIX – Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is expected to announce Monday if he'll run for Arizona governor.

Several sources confirm to the ABC15 Investigators that Arpaio has already made a decision, and will likely run for the office.

In a news conference after this story was first published, the Sheriff said he was still weighing his options, but also that he would in fact have an announcement on Monday.

However, when asked about a state sales tax during the news conference, the Sheriff either misspoke or leaked his decision.

"When I'm the governor, I'll study the issue," he said. "If become the governor..so I become the governor...I'll study it."

“I wish she would run for Congress or against RINO Kyl or RINO Flake.”

Well, Kyl is in the US Senate and she doesn't live in Flake's district, (I don't think).

That aside, I am getting darn tired of female Govs here. Each has been a huge disappointment. The female hormones always seem to get in the way of conservative thinking!

I love our Sheriff but if he runs for Gov and wins who will take his place as Sheriff? We need someone like him as Sheriff. If someone else who is limp-wristed becomes Sheriff then all the hard work he has done will just go to waste! I believe we have enough conservatives running for Gov. I’m torn.

As for Gov Brewer, she has no choice about the taxes and I am not happy about it either. What is she to do when our previous Gov. Napolitano left her a huge budget headache? Maybe once the illegals leave our state, our financial situation may not be that bad. I’m praying and staying hopeful. She has made a lot of cuts too but we’re still in a hole. AND the Feds still owe us money - border/immigration expenditures.

Dumping Brewer for Sheriff Joe after she had the courage to sign several very conservative laws seems ungrateful.

If Joe runs, I will send him money aplenty. Whether I have it or not. And maybe consider moving to AZ if he wins! (Wife is hitting me right now.)

Now, just imagine what he could do if he led the whole state. Maricopa County-style justice state-wide!

You may be right Falcon...but I think we would have to be prepared from the git go for the controversy that would follow him into office. Unjustly for sure but it will be there. I do love the man & I appreciate what he has done for the county over all these years! Just mulling it over....

I think keeping Brewer as Guv and Joe as Sheriff is the way to go. With the new law and Jan at the helm, old Joe could really clean up the state!

I think Jan Brewer is doing a fine job.

Arpaio should be content to stay where is because he’s done so much that no one else has done? What is not satisfied with? himself? what does he want? more power? he’s not happy being sheriff?

this doesn’t sound good

Well, some Democrats were ready to dump “Clean Gene” McCarthy for RFK, and then HHH stole the nomination without running in even one primary.

Plus he is an octagenarian and frankly as much as I like old people I am not sure if he would even last a full term.”

As I recall, many were thinking this about McCain and he’s still kicking!
