Arizona's controversial new law that allows police to question people about their immigration status has ignited Bay Area efforts to overhaul national immigration laws and promises to draw the largest crowds to traditional May Day rallies in years.
People who haven't attended such events before are expected to join activists and families in San Jose on Saturday in a march from King and Story roads on the East Side to a rally at San Jose City Hall. Crowds also are expected to march through San Francisco's Mission District and Oakland's Fruitvale neighborhood.

Arizona's SB 1070 allows police to stop and ask about a person's immigration status when they suspect the person could be in the U.S. illegally. The law also requires immigrants to provide proof they are in the country legally. The law allows police to inquire about a person's immigration status when they are SUSPECTED OF A CRIME, not just because they suspect they may be in this country illegally.
Also, the law mimics the Federal law in that the Fed law REQUIRES all aliens to carry their green card etc.
The reason for the law is that the Fed law states that if a state has this law (or a similar one) then they are authorized to enforce the Fed law
This is why every state needs a law of this nature.
There ought to be a law against illegal entry into the country.
Some in the Bay Area of California are mentioned in this article.
Some will have American Citizens watching and reporting on the carnage.
If you know of one of these marches in your area, please post about it here if anyone is going to observe, take pictures videos, etc.
When you do, add your state to the "topics" area
Thanks
Cinco de Mayo should be huge.
So what’s the deal?
Is today “National Non-sequitur Headline Day”, or what?
And burning American flags.
Oh and there are plenty, they just need to be enforced
We need a law like AZ has here in Calif
Here is a march in your area, Boss
Several “May Day” rallies are planned here in the valley including one set to begin at 4 pm in downtown Fresno at the corner of Fresno and O streets by the water tower.
Huh??
The left has certainly turned around since the 60s, when Cesar Chavez’s United Farm Workers were among the toughest opponents of illegal immigration.
UFW has, in fact, re-written much of its history to conceal the early UFW’s sometimes violent response to illegal labor. In one incident in Texas, UFW members (including Chavez’s own brother) physically attacked illegal workers as they crossed the border to work as strike-breakers.
Exactly.
I suspect there will be many cars overturned and burned, windows smashed and buildings set ablaze, brains bashed out by flying bottles, entire barrios up in flames in LA, blood flowing in the streets, etc.
In other words, according to the MSM, just another day of peaceable rallies by leftist revolutionaries and freedom fighters.
I asked Sheila if she’d like to go to the riots tomorrow. She declined. Said we can watch them on TV.
“Cinco de Mayo should be huge.”
The irony of Cinco de Mayo is that most of the celebrants have no idea what the holiday is about.
I don’t blame them for celebrating their one and only real victory over the French army, but if the British and Germans did the same, they would be off work every day of the year and their national economies would collapse.
