DENVER (AP) ― Denver Public Schools officials say they are banning work-related travel to Arizona so employees are not scrutinized under a law requiring officers to ask people about their immigration status.
DPS spokesman Kristy Armstrong says school employees are in the country legally but officials don't want them to be "subjected to that kind of scrutiny and search." The Arizona law signed last week by Gov. Jan Brewer requires authorities to question people suspected of being in the country illegally.
The law goes into effect this summer.
DPS Superintendent Tom Boasberg and board of education members are expected to announce the travel band Thursday afternoon.

Denver School of Science and Technology (DSST) made the President’s cut, narrowing down the list of high schools to three that Obama will pick from for attending commencement exercises, including DSST. In light of the Denver Public School’s actions against the State of Arizona, I wish we would have voted on this to prevent DSST from making the cut.
