Congress Investigating Oil Rig Explosion
House lawmakers investigating oil rig explosion, seek documents from BP and Transocean

WASHINGTON April 27, 2010 (AP)
Lawmakers on Tuesday asked the owner and operator of the oil rig that exploded last week in the Gulf of Mexico for documents as part of a congressional investigation into the accident.
The chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Democratic Rep. Henry Waxman of California, and the chairman of the committee's investigations subcommittee, Democratic Rep. Bart Stupak of Michigan, made the request in letters to Transocean Ltd., the rig's owner, and to BP PLC, which operates the rig.
"A striking feature of the incident is the apparent lack of an adequate plan to contain the spreading environmental damage," the lawmakers wrote. They said they are investigating "what the companies knew about the risks of drilling at the site and the adequacy of the companies' response plans."
Waxman and Stupak asked the companies for documents, including communications to or from senior officials, on the risk of an accident; potential responses; testing of emergency response procedures; emergency management and contingency plans; and environmental protection and response plans submitted to regulators.

Story #1: No Coincidences: Offshore Oil Rig Explosion
RUSH: Okay, the oil rig explosion out there in the Gulf of Mexico. Are there any coincidences in life? When we are on the verge at least on paper, anyway, of the regime saying we want to have renewed offshore drilling even though the areas in which they want to drill don't have any oil, all of a sudden a rig blows up. All of a sudden a rig blows up in the Gulf of Mexico and of course the oil slick, massive and gigantic, now being whipped toward the Gulf shore in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, by winds. And it will hit there at some point. And then, of course, the panic, we'll get the picture of the pelicans and the birds trying to fly away but they can't because they're slicked up with oil. We'll get little kids out there being given days off from school with bottles of Dawn dishwasher detergent to get out there and take the oil and the mess off of the birds. How convenient for the environmentalist wackos. They haven't had an oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico in a hundred zillion years. And here in an election year when they're trying to get cap and trade.

Congress couldn’t successfully investigate a raid on the cookie jar by the cookie monster.
We have also had a so-far unexplained explosion in a coal mine recently, with 29 dead.
I wonder if an evironmentalist group set those explosives.
Waxman = Nostril-dumba$$
This has all the earmarks of a George W Bush operation. A carefully timed disaster with fingerprints of clever tampering all over it. Like 9-11 we are expected to believe that burning petroleum can damage steel, and like NOLA we are expected to believe that critical containment features like levies fail on their own.
And we all thought W went into retirement!
Paging Rosie... </s>
Let’s start the chanting now..It’s 0bama’s Fault!
They are only investigating it so they can control the fact that some liberal whacko group sabotaged it to begin with.

It’s amazing he is still alive. I would have thought he would have drown in the shower by now with those nostrils. I know I’m bad - but it’s Thursday and I’ve had a rough week.
George Soros and his team of Venezuelan Frogman Saboteurs can say “Mission Accomplished”
I did call Levin’s office this morning to wish them a very sh*tty day.
Sure does sound suspicious considering that these same drilling platforms have been used for years and have every safety thing imaginable. Even more suspicious is that the rig sunk and had no Blowout Preventer!!!
Something very strange going on and it weren't no stinkin coincidence.
There rigs blow up all the time, on a per unit basis.
The last big blow out in the Gulf was 1979, a Mexican oil well gushed oil for over 9 months. Thankfully, they finally called in an American comany to get it under control.
Shame Red isn’t around for this one....
I'm thinking Union thugs, trying to support Cap and Tax...
One mine disaster - I'll buy that. Two?
Never.
Sorry ‘bout that. My husband told me that there was another mine disaster this morning with 2 missing... I can’t find a reference for that.
