I have always considered Barack Obama to be biracial, and I had hoped that his election would help our country move beyond the tired concept of race. Unfortunately, the president is not getting with my program.
Although I knew Obama self-identifies as African American, I was disappointed when I read that that's what he checked on his census form. The federal government, finally heeding the desires of multiracial people to be able to accurately define themselves, had changed the rules in 2000, so he could have also checked white. Or he could have checked "some other race." Instead, Obama went with black alone.
Despite being raised by a white mother and white grandparents, despite have spent most of his childhood in the rainbow state of Hawaii, despite clearly being comfortable in almost any type of crowd (though I suppose Tea Partyers might give him pause), the president apparently considers himself only black. "I self-identify as an African American. That's how I am treated and that's how I am viewed. And I'm proud of it," he has said. But he also argued in his famous speech about race that he could no more disown the Reverend Jeremiah Wright "than I can my white grandmother." With his census choice, he has done precisely that.
I am the mother of biracial children (Asian/Caucasian) and believe that multiracial people need...

Because he hates his mother’s white blood flowing in his veins!
Obama hates his white blood, because his ditzy mother never showed him how to have pride in himself for just being who he was.
What this shows is the data collected from this thing is hopelessly contaminated. If you can’t get accurate information from the most high profile sample in the country, the whole thing is worthless.
And if someone comes back and asks me why I answered American in the race category I will ask why did the President chose black when his grandma is a typical WHITE WOMAN!!
There is only one race.... The human race. I put Human on my form. I’m sure some sub- human government employee will be knocking at my door soon.
The race question shouldn’t even be on the census form (jmo).
Did that really happen, or is it Photoshop?
What percentage of any racial population in the US have
......traveled the world
......lived elsewhere prior to age 12
......ere raised by senior bank execs in Hawaii
......and went to exclusive private schools as teenagers?
Anyone?
Now, let’s break this down to those minorities and social classes that haven’t had nearly those opportunities their entire lives, let alone by the time they leave their teens.
Blacks don’t want to ‘get’ that he’s not Black, he’s Red. But, he wasn’t raised as anything but an exclusively privileged elitist by any definition imaginable. Now, he’s just acting like one, but people don’t get that either, apparently.
And, he loves to spend others’ money. IIRC, he had maxed out his credit card for a car when delivering the 2000 speech that the DNC used to vault him in front of the national audience. WHERE did the money come from...for the house....the board memberships...the fancy job at the Chicago law firm....the Harvard education...the trips to Pakistan & who knows where else....? On a ‘community organizer’s salary’? Hello?
I'm with you and with hundreds of thousands of other "humans". I hope by 2020 there won't be enough "non-humans" left to bother with the race question.
There was no box for anti-white.
Why should he check anything else? He has been playing the race card all his life with great success.
All the Oreo cookie jokes — but they really should be pictures of the chocolate kind because the self-hating Obammy doesn’t claim anything white about himself.
Absolutely right! I think William Ayers even wrote about how Obama felt in that book, “Dreams...”
