Why is Ken Salazar hiding memo on new monuments, wilderness areas?
The Washington Examiner ^ | 4/28/2010 | Mark Tapscott

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar was asked in a Feb. 26, 2010, letter from Western Caucus Chairman Rep. Rob Bishop, R-UT, and other representatives from western states for the missing pages from a leaked government memo that “contained detailed information about the administration’s plans to designate as many as 14 new national monuments and lock up as much as 13 million acres in states throughout the West.”

That’s all we need out here like another hole in the head. Enough is enough. Land that is sitting unused. What a travesty. Almost as big a travesty as oil sitting unused beneath the land. We absolutely REFUSE to use our natural resources. Must stop typing before saying something I regret. This country is in a tailspin folks.

Didn’t they build the largest statue of a man in the world to Nelson Mandela? You know Obama is going to want to build more monuments to himself than Saddam Hussein.

The federal government has way overstepped its bounds.

The federal government has no business being a landholder.

Land for a military base, fine, an office building, also fine. But millions of acres of land, huge chunks of entire states, no. This land needs to be handed back to the states along with the personnel presently managing those lands. Forestry Service, Park Service, Fish and Game, all these agencies need to be broken up and handed over to the states to do with as they wish.

If the states want to continue to maintain this land as designated forest land or park land, it should be their call. But BLM land, in particular, should be privatized. Hold a land auction or even a land lottery open only to citizens and privatize it. Corporations that want to buy the land can buy it from the citizens who wind up owning it.

They did an amazing land swap in Oregon where they traded a rancher something like 10 acres to 1 to get land they wanted. The rancher closed his land, the government closed the parcels they got, they locked up a HUGE area with this. Just a few BLM guys to cut the deal, no citizen input. Eventually people in the counties need to use local laws (emminent domain, tax laws, etc.) to fix this.

YESS!!!! I have the same thoughts- Obadias has far more grandiose delusions than Marx, Lenin, Saddam the previous Hussein dictator embodied in one America hating brain. Soon as the final regime changes are in place, HIS SLUSH FUND (TARP money) is ready and waiting to erect monuments of his persona. I’m sure the 10-50 foot Obadias statues will be facing Mecca and he will limit what used to be called the American vacation to forced pilgrimages to his sacrilege! (the desecration of our beautiful national parks).
